[Enrolment Type] Drip Feed Feature Fix Required
Currently when setting up a course I noticed the Enrolment Type 'Structured' option does not allow a private access control user to activate the drip feed course manually in their own time they click on the 'join' button within the courses dashboard.
Currently when a person purchases a drip feed course and are on the access control setting of private they are automatically started with the drip feed immediately. Who says the person wants to start and enrol the exact same day upon purchasing the course, they may want to start and enrol the next day or a date that best suits them, that is when the drip feed should activate when they click on the join course.
If the access control setting is set to public then the drip feed works manually fine and activates when a person clicks the join button.
Please can you make the private access control function also manual like the public where a person can have access to the course and choose when to enrol and activate their course and have the drip feed start.
When can this function be fixed?
Thanks
Morgan
Our Drip functionality works like all the other popular course platforms. So when someone purchase or enroll a course the course get started and the drip is calculated from that timestamp. This is how it should work and we have implemented that ideal way.
Shahjahan Jewel From what I remember, LearnDash, which I’ve used over the past few years on most of my clients' sites (in conjunction with BB or PeepSo), gives us more flexibility with drip content.
I'm trying to switch my clients to FluentCommunity, but the drip-feature is the main reason most of my clients don't want to migrate yet.
Just recently I've set up a FluentCommunity site for a client, and he pointed me to the problem with the drip feature that really affects progress tracking. That’s why I submitted a feature request yesterday to let your team know about the issue: https://community.wpmanageninja.com/portal/space/community-meta/post/sequential-lesson-access-les
Can you please check? Thanks in advance 🙏
Shahjahan Jewel thanks for your response... what I am trying to say is the drip feeding feature should not automatically enable when a person purchases a course. There should be a setting whether to enable this or not. if not enabled then a person can start the drip feed on their own time when they enrol into the course, not when they purchase the course and are automatically enrolled into the drip feed.
Fyi... LearnDash's drip-feeding feature is not automatically enabled when someone makes a purchase. It needs to be configured within LearnDash's course settings.
Shahjahan Jewel here is a good example of why auto drip feeding a person as soon as they make a purchase does not work. So besides a person purchasing a single course with drip feed and perhaps wants to start the course in their own time. What about membership subscriptions i.e there are multiple courses on drip feed a member get's access to for their monthly/annual subscription, so now all courses automatically start drip feeding the same day they sign up for a subscription. They should be able to choose which course they want to start first and then join/enrol into it for the drip feed to activate.
You have the setting fine for public where it's manual, confuses me why it's not the same for the private setting...
Morgan McArthur I can understand your point. We will do some R&D about this and would love to improve the workflow.
Shahjahan Jewel thank you, appreciate your open mind and what is best for best workflow
For me, it makes more sense to have the option for the drip to be sequential so that the next lesson unlocks when the previous lesson is completed instead of based on time. It's reasonable to prevent access to the more advanced lessons without completing the beginner-level ones, but students may want to do it on the same day, for example, instead of being forced to wait for days.
