Elementor

Will FluentCommunity compatible with Elementor?

I hope this question hasnโ€™t already been asked., I searched but couldn't find anything ๐Ÿ‘€

Ryk Melck

Linda Poulsen_1 why would you want to add bloat to your community in the first place. I'm not trying to be funny here. Using a forum should not be overcomplicated. Plus how is this going to benefit your users? Are you expecting them all to take a degree on how to use the builder. Out of interest does FACEBOOK have a page builder? or any of the other top social media platforms?

Linda Rando

Ryk Melck, thank you for explaining to me how a forum should be runโ€”fifteen years of managing large-scale ones clearly wasnโ€™t enough to teach me.

I didn't ask for an opinion on Elementor, so please bear with me, I really have no desire to start yet another debate on the topic.

Mat โ€Ž

Linda Poulsen_1, I am not sure how about you but we are here to exchange ideas and sometimes make "crazy" comments and we dont have to agree with each other. This is a community and if questions are posted than either we can expect that only fTeam should respond since they are the product owner or other people can share Their opinion and ideas. So feel free to be creative and dont be upset if its not implemented - it all up to the fTeam. I am pretty sure they know what they are doing and where they are going and they need to hear our (all of us) voice too.

I think implementing some more advnaced features for courses content could be beneficial (we basic Guttenberg editor - for me Kadence blocks would be cool there although but I accept if its not supported.

BTW: I love Kadence and I dont expect to have advanced edit features for posts and comments because we would build a monster app and database.

Linda Rando

Mat, of course, Iโ€™m not upset if a feature I want doesnโ€™t get implemented, but I don't think Ryk is part of the fTeam (nor do I think that anyone from the fTeam would respond in the impolite way he did).

If I get annoyed by someone's rude tone, it's not okay, but if someone speaks to me in a rude tone, that's fine and I'm the one who gets "scolded"? ๐Ÿค”

Linda Rando

Also, I didn't demand anything (of course not), I simply asked a question.

A very simple question about future compatibility, really.

Itโ€™s incredibly frustrating to carry on a conversation like thisโ€”exchanging ideas and opinions doesn't mean attacking others.

Mat โ€Ž

Linda Poulsen_1, I dont take someone comment personaly and you are not attacking here anybody when sharing your opinion so no worries at all. Do what you do and it will be alright. Share your feedback anyway. If we comment then get a wine and respond with funny answer..

BTW: Ryk Melck is awesome dude.

Ryk Melck

Mat, I wasn't trying to be rude; it just is what it is. There was no clear context given for where the builder should be activated. As you suggested, the course section might be a good fit. However, I'd still like to rest my case and recommend sticking with Gutenberg only.

In my view, the core focus of the Fluent community is speed and performance. With my years of experience in WordPress and LMS, I believe I have a solid understanding of this. For anyone looking to run a simple course at lightning speed, sticking to the basics is the best approach.

Mat and thank you for all your input into this group. I might not comment on everything. But I certainly do take note.

Mat โ€Ž

Ryk Melck, for me you are really cool and I have no issue at all. I am just the end-user as all of you guys but trying to make this product better and help here before the GoLive.

Wilco

Ryk Melck, Gutenburg is pretty crappy imo. The code is many times not to the standards that you should expect. But I guess if you can hook into gutenburg, you could create your own blocks if someone want's this and built it according to the right standards.

Ryk Melck

Wilco W, what's crappy about it?

Linda Rando

Ryk Melck I understand, but your message wasnโ€™t exactly the epitome of politeness and courtesy, and you came across as rude.

Okay, you think Elementor is terrible, I donโ€™t, but that wasnโ€™t the point of my questionโ€”it was simply โ€œcan they work together?โ€

Yes or no, I wouldnโ€™t have been offended if the fTeam had answered no, honestly.

Wilco

Ryk Melck, the code output. It's crappy. The way they handle sections, grids, containers. The total lack of control on the css class. The semantic HTML is a total crap most of the time.

Nicolas Daxant

Linda Randoย I support you, Elementor is way better than gutenberg on all plans, including performance, code optimization, your question is totally relevant, adding support for elementor is a must have for any wordpress project, what said Ryk Melckย was true 8 years ago but wake up mate elementor is a rocket now (99/100 GPS and gtmetrix) and gutenberg has still a long way to go (at least 5 years if they do well)

Ryk Melck

Nicolas Daxantย don't tell me to "wake up mate" ! and don't be rude. I was never once rude in my responses. Please get your act together. I obviously don't know much.

Wilco

Linda Poulsen_1 I think it would help if you expand a bit. What do you mean with compatibility? What do you want to see.

I do understand that people get agitated a bit because Elementor is full of very bad practices, but that's beside the point of your question. So what kind of compatibility are you looking for? Is it page design for login pages? for the community lay out it self? or something els.

Linda Rando

Wilco W, THANK YOU ๐Ÿฅน

I want to use it precisely for the community layout and the login pages, exactly like you mentioned, kind of like how it works with WooCommerce, you know?

Mat โ€Ž

Linda Poulsen_1, Just letting you know that you can use your existing login page to let users in the /portal - that is why we have this field available for us in the Admin settings but also we will be able to customize the current login page soon (not sure what it will be).

Mat โ€Ž

Depending on how Fluent Community evolves, we might not need this compatibility. They are adding new features very quickly and deeper customization. However, I'd like to add community content to an Elementor's template (latest posts in a forum on a sidebar, etc.), so adding a few Elementor widgets would be helpful.

Linda Rando

Daniel Gil, thank you! Yes, thatโ€™s also extremely useful, I forgot to mention it yesterday!
