Direct video upload plugin - it's ready!
Ladies and gentlemen, it lives π₯³. After weeks of testing (aka me bullying code until it stopped crying), the plugin is finally ready for public consumption.
Your FluentCommunity users can now upload actual videos. Yes, real files. Yes, on purpose. Grab it free at FCHub and tell me what catches fire first.
Huge thanks to everyone who tested since version 0.0.1 We made it. Somehow. Wahoo. The best start here FCHub Stream Documentation
Special thanks: Jacob WindhamΒ Dragan STAMENKOVICΒ Debo OgunrindeΒ Ross FCAΒ Arif Andre Dror VangerΒ (+many more, you know it)
This option should be as core function anyway. Great job.
Drive ZoneΒ it would be amazing! That's what I wished for a year ago.
Vibe CodeΒ Lets see if Fluent Player (*PRO) will be released and have some features like external video, audio storage/streaming integrated itself. I can only dream about it today.
I am not sure if your plugin will have any LTD and be available on WP.org repo but competition is always good.
When you make a permanent free plugin version (not Trial) then you can expect more followers I guess.
Keep in mind that paying for all WP plugins become very expensive hobby for a non commercial users. Large scale can be more beneficial in a long run then hunting for the high price tag - for the beginning its better to have 10000 customers paying $1 then 100 customers paying $100 unless you are Premium well known brand IMHO.
BTW: its nice that you have Fluent Directory feature on your site so users can find other communities (Discovery feature was suggested here long time ago too).
Looks awesome!
Uploading directly, would this not kill site performance? You would have to keep adding more processing power just to keep up. Im not looking to become a video hosting provider.
David ScurlockΒ you can upload videos to any CDN like Cloudflare/Bunny and stream it from there. Point of direct upload is that not everyone has youtube account and upload videos here. Most users have videos in ther devices.
David ScurlockΒ it doesn't use WordPress "power", your hosting "power". It's either Bunny.net Stream or Cloudflare Stream - video hosting providers your community will directly upload to
Drive ZoneΒ ok I get it.
Vibe CodeΒ so if a member uploads a video then it goes directly into bunny? Never heard of bunny.net so I will look them up.
David ScurlockΒ it goes straight from user to provider (skipping your wordpress). Then your wordpress (FluentCommunity) saves only a shortcode with details where is the video and how to render it. User's video file never land in WordPress
Vibe CodeΒ ok π got it.
David ScurlockΒ You can do that with the entire community, and it will always be faster and more secure than with local files. Change the configuration in settings.
Vibe CodeΒ Looks awesome! Will likely test it out when I get to that part of my build (currently creating API layer between frontend and FluentCommunity to replace LearnDash). Will it be able to handle ACTUAL Live Streams? Haven't checked Cloudflare or Bunny out in terms of this but I see a large use case for people to use their RMTP config through a provider and then to the community for actual live streams?
Side note - how did you create the FCHub website? Is it a Next.js app using ShadCN and WPGraphQL? Asking for a friend ππ
Joshua PetersonΒ hono (api), nextjs (frontend). no wpgraphql. live streams are not covered - but yeah... it's on todo list but first need to work on how to limit users so they won't drain community owner wallet.
Wonderful! This feature has been seriously lacking. Any chance you could expand this to include audio uploads as well? It's a feature that a number of users have requested. Thank you.
Vibe CodeΒ , your video plugin looks amazing. Thank you for taking the initiative and delivering that. Just saying that the audio side of media also hasn't been properly addressed by Shahjahan JewelΒ and team either. It would offer value to many. Keep up the great work and thanks also for the response and communication. Always appreciated.
JosΓ© Carlos EstiradoΒ thanks JosΓ©, can't wait to see more love and problems :P
Vibe CodeΒ I just don't have time for everything, but to follow the thread, I can't find any other way than by posting something in the comments. It would be great to have a "follow conversations" button so we could free up the comments section for its intended use. As soon as I've tested it, I'll post my impressions here, no doubt about it. It looks very promising. I use Bunny.net, so I'll try it out there. I was exploring live streaming options on YouTube on my own, so I'm following this with interest. ππ
I recommend it to everyone! Great add-on, great quality, and great support!
Great plugin. Haven't tried it yet but in the video it showed it being encoded after uploading. Will all users see that process or just the author/uploaded?
Chris DavisΒ just publish - everyone will see encoded status. Next level would be integrating this with fluentcommunity schedule... but it won't happen anytime soon. This is how it works, encoding time is needed.
Vibe CodeΒ just testing it: it's correct that i works on the first level (meaning when you create a post), but not in a comment (where the symbol is also visible), correct?
i just tried to post/upload a video in a comment, but it doesn't show the video (although toggle in settings is on)
Also: Collection-ID doesn't work on my end, it goes to root (which is also fine for me)
Manuel MΓΌllerΒ Adding videos to comments is working for me. Make sure you also actually type in a comment and post it, otherwise there's nothing for the video to show up in.
Nice work Vibe CodeΒ for all those requiring this cool add on . Video for me is not a priority right now, however course add ons like the course Q&A chat bot and the language translation for course comments and spaces comments really grabs my attention. You mentioned these in another post, is this possibly the next project you will work on?
Vibe CodeΒ Congrats!
This is THE BEST! I haven't tried it, but this is exactly what Fluent Community needs AT THE CORE! +1
Why would you waste so much server space?
Ceez VisionΒ It doesn't. The videos upload directly to Cloudflare or Bunny.net.
Finally! Awesome work! This is sooooo good.
Hi,
Ummβ¦ I donβt see any free license, i only see paid plans π€
Could someone please tell me where I can find it?
Raphael D.Β login using free account you create, pick a paid license it will give you free trial ;)
Fluent are releasing native video uploading v soon...
PLUS, it looks complicated to set up
PLUS, its not officially a fluent release so not sure i trust it
PLUS, its a extra/paid thing, not free

"Grab it free" am I missing the free version? This is great but really should be a core feature of FC.
Doug DennisonΒ thanks for this! I've asked for this from the beginning.
Mike CameronΒ yep, we need this too, so it's good to know the team are working on this. Shahjahan JewelΒ is on it.
Doug DennisonΒ are u sure ?
CointacterΒ yep
You should add Mux as a streaming provider; I've just moved all my videos to them and they are great. Much better to work with than Cloudflare Stream or Bunny when I did my initial testing and wanted to migrate off of Vimeo.
Blaine MooreΒ thanks mate! Mux looks beautiful! I just did first tests and love it - their api is solid, super easy to implement. Definitely it will be added. Again, many thanks for recommendation.
Playing with trial. Recording video on iPhone does not upload or save to camera roll.
FC Hub Docs: Bad Gateway...
Iβm testing the trial version for a week before purchasing. I uploaded a video via my iPhone. Itβs stored on Cloudflare, but it doesnβt appear in the post in the Fluent communityβ¦ Only the status remains there β text without the video.
Very bad support...
