Direct video upload in FluentCommunity
I had to abandon direct mp4 player. Hosting MP4 videos directly on WordPress is a terrible idea - it kills your bandwidth, loads slow, and looks bad on most devices. I moved to developing solution with direct upload in FluentCommunity but videos goes to Cloudflare Stream or your Bunny.net Stream instead. They handle adaptive streaming, global CDN, automatic quality, security tokens, and analytics - basically everything WordPress canβt.Β Watch this video, throw some questions, ideas, critique. Storing video for streaming on a web hosting is a crazy idea and its good that you noticed that Buddy.
Everything else what you do is stunning..

Mat βΒ it was absolutely fine on my hosting... but I did small closed group test - and boom, shared hosting were crap... so I knew it's not for everyone... on the other side, folks with own vps etc probably don't even care about this implementation because they can do whatever they want... install etc
Mat βΒ ok wistia under voting https://docs.wistia.com/reference/getting-started-with-the-upload-api-1
Your plugin looks really promising! I believe itβs going to be super useful for many FluentCommunity users. I have two quick questions though -
-
If a user deletes a video from the community, will it automatically be removed from Cloudflare Stream or Bunny Stream storage as well?
-
Does your plugin include any option or integration for filtering adult or violent content during upload?
Keep up the great work! Iβm genuinely excited to see how this project develops.
Arif KaziΒ thank you Arif for kind words. Yes, plugin deletes automatically if user or admin delete post (including videos in comments if used). 2 nope and I even don't plan this - too much hassle and I even don't have capabilities to implement this. join group chat - link in my bio, I think tomorrow we will run public test
Great work done here indeed. Congratulations
I am obsessed with your app. I am really obsessed and waiting for an email to test it!
Ioannis GlossopoulosΒ yeah me too. He is doing an amazing job
Why do we have to go anywhere outside this community to discuss your tool...?
If you post it here, so discuss here...
If people like you, they'll follow you without the annoying "join group chat - link in my bio"... -_-
That old kind/technic of "soft" spam is really annoying...
Agreed with Jose Luis DuronΒ
Please don't do that. Vibe CodeΒ
Jose Luis DuronΒ I don't like it either, but its because almost everyone else does it. I don't blame the guy.
Ryan AlierΒ No. Not "almost everyone else does it". I just have seen a couple...
I recommend everyone be careful installing "non-official" snippets or add-ons (especially if they don't know what is inside the code).
Jose Luis DuronΒ Shahjahan JewelΒ thanks for your opinion. Telegram is for early birds who will help me in small private group testing. I don't want to release anything that will have bugs. Final version will appear here so you can comment all your love. Patience is needed.
Looks good - was hoping for this sort of integration naturally with FC.
I'd say, the video limits that can be set in options, let community managers have an optional override for that - maybe they want to upload longer / higher bitrate source videos that are beyond the Settings limits, due to some promo or other video, as created by the community leaders/organisation/company.
So, their special videos can have better quality or longer source video, therefore being transcoded to a higher quality result Stream too.
Dominic OsborneΒ thanks for ideas. These are on todo... I made plugin in modular structure so adding them will be pretty easy, but still time consuming. Most will appear this month... just a bit later. Tomorrow first private group tests. About to finish documentation....
Vibe CodeΒ Nice - so yes, for example, regular users could upload max 3 mins video, but admins/community managers could upload 10 minutes and/or larger filesize with higher bitrate source video. That's my thinking.
Vibe CodeΒ Another thought - what if 'we' want to upload videos for Courses/modules, but want those in a different Bunny Stream library, so those are separated out from the general 'public' user uploads for posts etc?
Dominic OsborneΒ great ideas! bitrate impossible - everyone has the same. it's up to cloudflare stream or bunny... if they provide method for that I'm happy to implement!
Vibe CodeΒ You misunderstand my point.
Yes, the final stream bitrate is up to Bunny etc.
I am talking about the source video that is uploaded, for Bunny to process. That bitrate is up to the creator.
High bitrate means better quality video source (which means a better quality Stream).
But, bigger files to upload.
Your options/settings show ability to limit filesize.
I'm suggesting that you allow admins to upload files larger than the limit set in settings - I can easily upload videos of GB is size, but wouldn't want community people/users to do that! :)
Dominic OsborneΒ ok note taken. not sure how to do that... because in fchub-stream plugin wordpress don't even touch the file... so who will verify that? check how it works https://docs.fchub.co/docs/fchub-stream
Vibe CodeΒ who will verify.... what, sorry?! :D
It's official and live https://docs.fchub.co/docs/fchub-stream
Vibe CodeΒ What's the cost of it?
Does it work purely for FluentCommunity or for wider Wordpress use?
