Currently Using BuddyBoss
Hi all, we are currently using BuddyBoss for our College, UKCPD - https://ukcpd.co.uk we are actively looking at a re-design and are considering Fluent Community as an option to power the site. UKCPD is a BIG site, with lots of content, course options and Groups -- My question is: Has anyone successfully migrated across from BuddyBoss to Fluent Community - ? How painful was the process? and have you REALLY noticed performance improvements etc? - and downsides -- any comments will eb really appreciated.
We just helped a customer with 5+ years of data to FluentCommunity from BuddyBoss. All you have to do run this CLI command:
wp fluent_community migrate_from_bb
That's it!
Shahjahan JewelΒ OK ... thanks ... be useful to hear from an actual user.. a customer.. appreciate your answer
TonyΒ Nutley NutleyΒ You managed to launch BuddyBossβthat's fantastic. Mine is still dead.
What is your motivation for the transition? In my opinion, conservatism is important for an educational institution.
Alternatively, you can create a test server and see how it works in your case.
Artur AbakarovΒ Not sure what you mean by "conservatism".. ? The motivation for looking at other options is primarily performance, support being also in the mix.
TonyΒ Nutley Nutley When I visited your website, it seemed to me that it was highly customized, and I am not yet sure whether you use posts or forums for socialization, nor do I know which plugin you use to publish courses. Since there are many modules in both BB and LMS, as well as landing pages and blog sections, it is very difficult to say that your students will immediately understand what is going on.
But if you think that BB is not working well for you (almost dead) and you are ready for a simpler version of LMS, then I highly recommend trying the test server with your data transferred to Fcom.
And I strongly advise against making changes directly in production. Since without a practical perspective, it would be difficult to say how justified this is.
Artur AbakarovΒ We use LearnDash as the LMS, -- there is a test server for FluentCommunityΒ ??
TonyΒ Nutley Nutley You are currently on the test server. But I had something else in mind: create a server with the conditional address dev. test., upload your server image there, and then migrate to FluentCommunity. This way, you will understand how it works for you without any illusions and whether you can easily transfer the course. Then test it yourself or with your team to see if there are any problems.
Artur AbakarovΒ ahh... got it ... ta
Shahjahan JewelΒ Can you explain this a little more please: We just helped a customer with 5+ years of data to FluentCommunity from BuddyBoss. All you have to do run this CLI command: -- what exactly would be imported .. we are 99% decided to move from BuddyBoss ... the team are just a little unsure about the process
TonyΒ Nutley NutleyΒ Once you migrate via CLI:
- All the posts with media will be migrated (you can delete media from buddyboss later)
- All the connections, profiles, groups will be migrated as well
- All the group members, moderators will be migrated to the corresponding groups.
- All the comments, likes will be migrated as well.
So basically, everything from BuddyBoss will be migrated to FluentCommunity.
Create a staging site, run the command, and see the result :)
π.. Thanks ... I understand .. So, all we need to do then is build out the design, and then add our courses..
I am guessing Fluent CRM, Affiliate and Boards (which we already use) will integrate with Community .. and I guess .. FluentCart ..
