Credit Cards & Billing Address Details?

I operate an ecommerce site with recurring subscriptions. Can anyone tell me if I MUST ask for billing address details at signup? I know the billing address might be useful or even recommended for fraud prevention purposes, but is it required? I know postcode is required, but I don't think billing address is.
