Community vs Forums
I was surprised at how difficult my users are finding FC. They actually prefer the WPForo forums that I originally built with.
What do you hear from your communities?
I've actually had the exact opposite experience leaving WPForo. I don't think it's the platform they have issue with more than changing their muscle memory from the previous.

Change is always a bit uncomfortable. Please allow them some time, and they're going to love it. ✨
Yeah, I agree with The GS , they'll get used to it and learn to love it more than what they experienced with your wpforo setup. I was using wpforo as an addon to my FC as an area for longer, deeper, more drawn out discussions than what would be considered as a normal post, but I've since switched to using the Asgaros Forums plugin. It's a bit more basic than wpforo, but at the same time it's more lightweight on the server side.
The only issue I'm having right now is trying to figure out a way that I can incorporate the two (Asgaros Forums with FC), so that when a new topic is created or a new reply to a topic is made in the "Forums" area, it will automatically create a post inside the main News Feed of the Community, so that other Community Members will be able to see what is happening in the Forums if they are interested in getting involved there.
