Community Backup

is there any preferred way of back up/ restore the community? How often do you guys make backups?

Client is afraid of losing a lot of data in case the site crashes vs using Circle/ Skool

We back up the entire system daily via the Plesk interface with our host.

You should check what options the customer has with their hoster.

Just remember, a backup using your host is only a restore point. A true backup needs to exist outside of your hosting environment and be possible to restore onto another host.

When you have that in place, you will have more resilience than relying on Circle.

As well as running backups on our server to Google Drive, we also use ManageWP.

That depends on the system you use. We use a managed server and we can create our own full backups via Plesk and also download them and store them externally.

AndrΓ© SalierΒ It's that "download them and store them externally" that's the important bit that I was getting at πŸ™‚

I do 3 backups. One at the server level once a day. One via my hosting control panel saved remotely twice per day and one via a WordPress plugin once a day also saved remotely in a different storage system than the other 2.

Thank you very much guys.....

Depends on the client, but both Google Drive and s3 are normally used as well as a daily server backup so all 3 are done at different points throughout the day normally after statistically high traffic points.
I have one client that does an incremental backup every 15 minutes with full backups daily. As with everything, it depends on the details and risk assessment of the project.
Backups are inexpensive compared to manually having to contact people and sync up systems when there's an issue.
