Cloudflare SUCKS!

I've been trying to get my offline media storage working. I'm not sure which is more frustrating, the documentation to set up Amazon S3 or just trying to get Cloudflare R2 added to my existing free account that I use for DNS.

Cloudflare makes it impossible to contact them for support to buy their service. Absolutely impossible!

When I go to the Cloudflare page for R2 and click to add an R2 subscription to my account, all it does is reload the page. The same thing happens using Safari or Chrome browser.

The documentation for WP Manage Ninja to add R2 doesn't show the current page that I see. I put in a support ticket and received a reply that they are working on updating their documentation for S3 an R2 - no idea when that will come out.

This is a DEAD STOP issue for me. I have several communities that I want to start, but doing it with local storage is not what I plan to use.

For those of you who have Cloudflare R2 working, how the hell did you get it added to your account? I've never seen such an error on a professional business service without any way to contact support.

I don't want a community discussion. Their documentation skips over the simple act of purchasing R2. Phone calls direct you to voice mail. There's no way to get chat on a free plan, never mind that I want to subscribe to a paid plan.

What horrible customer support!

So I'm begging you guys here. How did you get started, because I have no luck at all.

Cloudflare has a community forum. You can post your question there also. I did that before and received quickly a response.

Oh, I'm aware and I appreciate your reply. I also tried the Discord server. What cluster of confusion. I have a Discord account, but I can't use it when I claim my account on their server because it says my email address is already in use. Yet there's no visible way to login using an existing account.

When I pay for a product, I would expect a way to communicate with the vendor, not other customers. That's just a cost-cutting dodge to avoid good customer service.

William Beem  CF doesnt suck 😝 but there is ongoing issue with the CF Billing and it is under investigation - once you are logged-in to your CF account use this link below to see details for this issue:

https://dash.cloudflare.com/?account=support

BTW: Can you confirm that you have added your credit card to your CloudFlare Free account (User Profile > Billing) just to make sure your account is validated and you can use Free R2 (I don't think the credit card configuration is needed but just trying to replicate my testing case for you - Yes for you only haha).

When it comes to testing new R2 bucket.. I was just able to configure a new Bucket with R2.

I was using FireFox browser on my mobile and I did not face any issues (Note: I didint have any browser extension installed).

I have created a new R2 Bucket Name and it generated the public URL for the bucket: pub-someRandomCharacters.R2.com

I used that automatically generated public PUB-url domain (not a custom domain) just to make it easy to replicate this case as a newbie.

Let me know when you create your first R2 bucket and make it public so we can go to the next verification (unless you follow Ninjas manual and all works as expected).

Note: there is a small adjustment is needed in the fCommunity R2 configuration Settings in case your newly added attachments in your fCommunity are uploaded to R2 (you can see them in your CF Bucket) but not dispayed in fCommunity posts/comments (probably you didnt ise the https://pub- URL but the other one) but let's leave it for later aka once you confirmed that you can upload pictures/post attachment to CF).

Note2: once you know how to configure it make sure you add your custom subdomain to your bucket in CF and use it.

Note: don't use the free .R2.DEV URL - it is dedicated for developers only not for live website (some CF features csnt be used with it) but also when you decide to move your attachments from R2 to S2 it will be easy proceed with your own domain/sundomain since it won't change for the new bucket location - you will just need to migrate your attachments to a new location: S3 or vice versa and adjust the DNS IP.

Mat β€ŽΒ Thank you. Cloudflare shows my PayPal address when I click the button, so my payment information is clearly on file. They just don't seem to know how to use it.

I'll check the things you recommended.

William Beem

OK, I owe you my thanks and gratitude for such a lengthy response. I'm working now with Cloudflare R2.

The most valuable thing that got me past my issue was when you told me where to look to verify my payment information. As I suspected, my PayPal was there. However, I discovered a past due issue for 83 cents last October.

No idea why, because I see the invoice from then and thought it was paid, but whatever. I paid it again and it worked fine with PayPal. Once that happened, I was able to get to the next page and create a token.

Now why in the world did Cloudflare just reload the page to add R2 to my account instead of saying "pay your damn bill" is beyond me, but that resolved my major issue.

I just tested things with an image upload. The file is in R2 and I see it in my portal.

Many thanks for putting me on the right path.

Cloudflare still sucks for making it so confusing, though. :)

William BeemΒ you are right that there should be a clear message to pay the bill but...

There are many other things in the big corpo world πŸ’° related to catching bad actors πŸ‘Ήwho try to hide themselves behind CF so maybe the confusion with billing/payment verification is good 🀣

The whole process for accounts with "bad billing history" might be even designed this way so users need to think harder πŸ₯Ά and bad boys (excluding you of course 😁) need to contact CF support πŸ€”

William Beem

Mat β€ŽΒ If only Cloudflare made it easier to contact their support. No matter, perhaps that will change now that I'm paying for something else.

Again, thank you for your help. It's greatly appreciated. Now I'm off to fight the ferocious Bunny.net battle to host my courses.
