Wondering if anyone would be interested in such a thing? Should I charge for it? If so, how much? I have never tried selling plugins or any software, but would like to. While you are there, you can see most of my content was produced with my other plugin, FluentCommunity RSS Feeds, which is a total end to end content management system. Anyone interested in learning more about that one? I would probably have to make a video on how to use it, but it's pretty gosh darn cool too. I would like Jorge de los Reyes or Thomas Oates
or Kaneisha G. or a couple of the more famous members to do a beta test for me, and would appreciate any feedback others may have. Not sure how to setup sales on my FluentCart, but could probably figure that out, lol.
I like the weather widget...it looks pretty cool. For the RSS feeds plugin, am I correct that it pulls interesting articles from other sites via RSS and creates posts in FC?
Thomas Oates yes, if I made a video, it will show all the details, but feel free to ask. A screenshot of that one would be lackluster, but I use a free rss software, Netnewswire to preview good feeds that AI helped me find and literally within 30 minutes you can have 100's of articles in your community. It adds the image to your wp media gallery and removes the image upon deleting the article, has and approve / reject workflow, pruning articles by age, ever greening certain articles, etc. should only delete articles from admin to keep the db clean. I have been using it for a few weeks now, and it just works. Sip coffee in the morning and approve / reject articles fetched overnight via cron job.

Insta Net No, I don't think it's anything like that. No AI or paid services needed to use it. It just uses simple RSS news feeds to offer you a list of articles from the sources you specify, fetches them overnight, then you approve / reject each or in bulk and set the age threshold of articles to fetch and auto prune, or evergreen. You can also set default space for each feed, which in my case was helpful for feeding specific content to specific spaces. For now I would like to get it in the hands of a few of the people I mentioned, and try to gauge interest. If people are interested in the RSS feeds plugin, I will record a quick tutorial video to show it off, but hopefully I will get a feel for whether it is worth pursuing as a side hustle. My smart home business is off to a slow start, lol. Right now, I spend more time building my website, buying fluent software, and building custom code than serving customers, lol.
What is your end goal with the rss feed? Just to have 100s of already published articles that google will not reward you for? There is a reason your site is not indexed very well and that is because you are not publishing original content. Sorry to be so harsh 😔 rss feeds may have worked back in 2010, but not very useful today in terms of indexing. And the same goes for publishing AI content which may not work in your favor either. Google can detect AI...
David Scurlock the purpose is to aggregate content my users may like and hopefully spark conversations. I guess it's not as cool as a thriving community full of real people, but it makes a new community look less pathetic, 😆 I think it works well for the purpose intended.

Jeff Newbie question: how did you get that widget up there on the home page? I find the idea very appealing. In fact, I asked the boss last night to create an API that allows us to hook custom content into the FC home page. Now you just proved that it's already possible. Like your weather plugin, btw. I have something similar in mind - not the weather for a place, though, but your personal weather (time quality). :)
Would be interested in the RSS one. I was actually thinking about tackling this but if you already have it working that’s possibly one less thing I need to get sidetracked by…. Also considered looking to see if flowmattic can do it since I already have it.
I like this weather widget as well. Everything tends to be monetized today, free options fade, and sharing becomes rare. A pity. WpManageNinja builds extensions they need for their own workflow and then shares them with everyone. Seeing community members follow the same logic for a small feature like a weather widget would make sense. A gesture of exchange, aligned with the spirit of the platform. I doubt a paid version would gain real traction. I’ve run a community (forum) for over twenty years without charging anything and without ads, and I run a free webradio funded from my own pocket. Some of us create out of passion. I understand economic needs, but I wouldn’t pay for a weather widget when free alternatives already exist 😜
Claudy Scoufy I'm curious, do you pay for any of WPNM products? I can't tell by your comment if you believe in commercial software, or if everything should just be free and open source. Hopefully there are some that see the value of spending $10 on an LTD weather widget because that is about 5 minutes of what their time is worth.
Jeff , If it’s a one time 10 dollar purchase, that does shift my view. What becomes frustrating is the trend toward subscriptions for everything. I do believe in commercial software and I use plenty of it, though admittedly less than open source. And yes, I do pay for some WPNM products. You asked for opinions, so I gave mine. I wish you success with your plugin, it’s well made and useful, and I might even spend the 10 dollars if my users want it.
Claudy Scoufy I despise subscriptions. The kind of opinions I was hoping to see was price range, or if anyone would even pay for them, but no one has yet offered anything for them yet. I am leaning toward LTD's, of course, and maybe $10 for the weather and $29 for the RSS feed. I am getting them into the hands of a couple of beta testers, and hoping they will help with pricing suggestions. I will work on a getting a video walkthrough of the FC RSS Feeds posted shortly.

I have neglected to give any updates on The RSS Feeds plugin, because I've been waiting for feedback on the bug report I submitted WPMN. The weather widget is solid and ready to go. I found a bug in the FluentCommunity FeedsHelper::createFeed() API. This was reported via a ticket over 2 weeks ago, and am still waiting to hear back from the developers.
I first reported the issue here in the community around a month ago. The problem is that the API post method doesn't respect new posts from admin when "Content Moderation > Require approval for first post" is checked (Should be default setting IMHO) and if the admin has never made a manual post in the community. The result is the first post by the plugin gets flagged for moderation, and the worst part is you can't approve it from the front end. That feels like a lot to try to explain to someone that has purchased a plugin, so this plugin is in perma-hold status until WPMN fixes the bug, or explains to me why this is the expected behavior.
In the meantime, I am getting close to finishing an amazing plugin that I bet many people will be interested in. Say goodby to buy me a coffee and patreon, for FluentCommunity founders 😁
