Chat unread message badge

I'm in the process of integrating FluentCommunity in my Travel website. I would like to add a simply button/link on my main header that redirects to the Chat page. That way users have a convenient and direct way to go to the Chat rather than having to always go first to the Community page first.

Now the big question, is there anyway, perhaps with some custom code, to be able to display the unread message badge outside of the Community page?
