Change labels
Is it possible to change the labels?
For example: I do not want courses to be called courses but modules, and lessons I want to be called something else. Is there an easy way to do this? (works in learndash)
You can use Loco Translate to translate/change all the strings. But we don't have any plan to give options to change the terminologies.
Shahjahan Jewel every LMS out there enables the option for labels to be called something else. They may stay as 'Lesson' in the hard code of the platform but every one I've seen enables a renaming feature with a text box so lessons can instead appear to users as 'tutorials' or whatever the admin chooses. Here's Thrive Apprentice as an example where I changed lesson to apple as an example.
Colin Stevens I can understand that other LMS plugins have this feature or may have different features that we don't have. Our LMS module will always be super fast and super simple. We don't want to cover all the features that other LMS plugins has.
Colin Stevens Can you change the course terminology in Circle? I am also a big fan of Circle and in many areas, FluentCommunity has more features.
As I stated many times, FluentCommunity's course module is not designed to compete with LD, Tutor or Lifter.
Im going to be the Devil's advocate here,
I LOVE Fluent Community, keep recommending it, I also can see the amazing changes you brought to the UI for the course module! So much better! And I understand and respect that it is not meant to compete with other LMS in your plans for the future.
But that's also the risk of putting such a feature in Fluent Community. Once again, I understand and respect your decisions Shahjahan Jewel but you can't add a feature in a plugin and just not listen to what the community is actually asking for in terms of feature. I mean..., if people are enjoying using Fluent Community why not trying to make them more happy and have some features implemented so they use your product even more?
Of course you can put your boundaries when and if it really has an impact on performance, but some small implementation such as asked by Colin Stevens or Marjan Crabtree should at least be considered.
There are other very basic things missing in the course module, clearly. But if you feel like this is the final version and nothing else should be implemented, you should really reconsider, if yes or no, the Course module has its place in Fluent Community. Because if you keep it in Fluent Community you will always have people asking for more features.
As a creator myself, I know it can be tough sometimes to see something we had in mind taking a complete different turn than what we first expected. Maybe you thought that not many people would actually use the Course module? But in the end, the product is for the customer, not for the creator. Also, take it as a compliment, that means people are excited to use Fluent Community! If they would not enjoy it, they would not even try to make it better by asking new features 😉
I'm just wondering, in the actual state of the Course module, what are the use cases for it? (Not being rude or sarcastic, just actually genuinely wondering)
For example, when the course is done, nothing happens. I've also been looking for including polls and surveys in the lessons to be able to bring a minimum of challenge during the lessons'and also show the student that they are actually learning something, but none of this is possible, same for a notifications when someone completes a course (let's not even talk here about having a certificate in the end, which clearly would be awesome) so for what sort of courses would the Course module be fitting for?
If you don't have plans to improve the Course module, I guess you might be better taking it off to escape any misunderstanding about it. Ultimately, if no improvements are made over time, I don't think people will be using it, which would really be a missed opportunity. Perhaps a Fluent Course plugin in the future would be more profitable if people are asking too much for the Course module in Fluent Community?
The Course module is not the main reason why I use Fluent Community, but I can understand some people would want to fully use this feature for more complex courses directly linked with their communities.
I still love every bits of Fluent Community, so I'm not mad or pissed off, but I guess there is some thinking to do on whether yes or no the Course module has its place here in Fluent Community.

Jimmy Tavares Absolutely agree with you. I never expect Community to replace LD. I love simple course modules, but a little bit of extra core functionality would be great.
