Challenge for anyone reading this!!!!!

This won't take a mo.

Firstly set this Spaces feed to 'List' view.

Then scroll down (after reading this!) at least 5-6 page loads as though you were a user browsing posts in a site that anyone has made with FC.

Then, click on a post as though reading it, and click back on your browser to return to where you were in the feed.

Except you wont, you will be at the top of the feed and have to scroll all the way back down through all those posts to find where you were in the feed....

Maybe scroll a bit further, find another post that takes your interest and click and repeat.

How long before you get fed up and close the Feed or website?

This is why LIST view absolutely needs MODALs enabled like Timeline view has.

Timeline is not a great choice for Video heavy sites as many Video sites when embeded in FC autoplay on page load, meaning you can have loads of videos all start playing at the same time...

I know I have mentioned this before, but this little detail is a site killer in the real world. I have a demo site setup with a few hundred users all joined organically in the last couple of weeks. This one detail is being reported as the thing that makes them give up on the site as it 'feels broken'.

Please - enable Modals on List view!!!

Thank you :-)

The topic has been raised many times and cannot be raised often enough.

Sebastian WeissΒ I don't like sounding like Im just here moaning! Im not, I think FC has great potential, but this issue puts using FC in a real live site with real live members (who are not on this one as admins!) - on the wait until it gets fixed before using - for me.

The next big 'small' detail would be to enable bulk editing of FC posts... be able to move in bulk between spaces or changr topics. - bit like how WP lets you edit post catagories, tags etc in bulk...

Being limited to editing posts one by one is a major spanner in the works as a site grows.

Community sites will start with a few spaces, a few topics and a few members posting. As they grow, the user flow - spaces, which posts go where, topics will need to be added to, and some will need expanding and moving posts to different locations. I know this isnt great practise for URL consistency, but it is a reality of a growing site. I have managed sites before using other plugins with many thousands of members and this sort of tweaking/editing the user flow as a site grows is something that pretty much always has to be done.

1 - Modals for List view

2 - Bulk editing of posts

and a cheeky 3rd request to enable List view as default for the main default feed also for consistency reasons! πŸ˜…

Then I can start to use FC as a real site in the real world and most likely invest into other FC plugins along the line :-)

Im not a huge fan of Modals, feels like old web design from the early 2000's. I do think that if you want to engage users on LARGE complex topics, it would be nice to have a default list view that links to categories, so you could have a forum style space if you wanted one.

I think this would allow for broader space categories and more user engagement.

SeanΒ Might feel dated maybe, but using FC on mobile the combination of List view and Modals enabled would work really well.

Timline view is good, but has issues when users are posting video embeds from certain sites as they all play on page load (dailymotion for example).

Having the option would be great as its already built in for Timeline, just not for Lists

Sean

Tim LordΒ Modals on mobile is even worse! You only see that method with shopping carts, trying to offer a discount to get somebody to buy for the first time.

Regardless, if that’s something you want, you should put it on the roadmap. I’m a big believer that the list view can be updated like a forum and draw more people in.

If you go on Facebook, it’s a similar style as FC, just a long feed. If you had a list of view with categories, people could go into that specific topic… Now you can have the best of both worlds and I think it will help people stay longer.

Yo Timmy.. I feel your passion and want to learn more.. but whats Modals? Fashion models? Sorry not sorry #noob

Insta NetΒ Fasion Model LOL? Good one!

Popup Model Window/Block - example:

A web page element that displays in front of and deactivates all other page content

In user interface design, a modal window is a graphical control element subordinate to an application's main window. A modal window creates a mode that disables user interaction with the main window but keeps it visible, with the modal window as a child window in front of it.

Mat β€ŽΒ Mat thank you very much for taking the time to explain modals.. πŸ™‚

Our feed is Timeline view with modal "disabled".. but I can see how modals could be valuable in List view per Tim Tim LordΒ

Option in customization settings.

When enabled, clicking on a post will open it in a seperate popup window rather than a new page load. The original page will still be underneath so when the popup is closed, the user is still in the same place on the spaces feed.

For Mobile viewing it works really well but sadly FC have only enabled it for Timeline view and not List view at the mo.
