Auto DMs
Could we have an auto DM feature or at least a code snippet for FluentMessaging to send a custom message to each new member? Didn't find any posts about it.
For now, what if you did that with FluentCRM? You could send them an email.
Lee BuschΒ Well yeah, it's an option, but completely different because people are much more likely to respond to a message inside the community as it feels more personal. I would even take this further and add multiple variations of auto DMs.
Guess it depends on the goal. For introduction and sharing important information, email works fine, but to start a conversation, DM is better.
If you replace FluentMessaging with BetterMessages, they have an integration with Automater WP which lets you do exactly this
Stuart McKelvieΒ Oh really? Does BetterMessages integrate with FluentCommunity?
Madis MarkΒ it does yeah, it completely replaces FluentMessages and is a much more robust and established option. https://www.better-messages.com/docs/integrations/fluentcommunity/
I've used it on a few different sites now (before using FC even) and it works great. If you're wanting to use messaging as a key component of your community, I would highly recommend it over FluentMessages
Stuart McKelvieΒ Wow, I've never heard about it. Thanks a lot!!
Madis MarkΒ you're about to go down a fun rabbithole hahah it has voice and video calling, email notifications, integration with OneSignal for push notifications, chat rooms, AI bots plus because it's been around for a while, there are integrations with most of the automation platforms
Seems awesome. The only problem I noticed is that it doesn't find existing WP users (community members) to send messages to. Not sure if I need to sync it somehow. Clicking "Message" on the profile works.
Madis MarkΒ it should do. Where are you searching? Did you click the New Message icon in the top left of the message inbox? The search bar on the inbox is just for existing messages, but the new message icon lets you search for all WordPress users. You can even hook into the code to suggest certain users show up first for members who are creating a new message (I've used this in the past to suggest admin staff show up in the suggested users list)
Stuart McKelvieΒ Right, I now realized this too! Thanks. And now I'm trying to get WP-Cron working correctly :D I needed to disable regular WP Cron for FluentCRM, but that breaks cron events for Better Messages, so now learning to set a server side job.
Madis MarkΒ that is something I'll have to leave with you, as I haven't needed to do that. Good luck!
Stuart McKelvieΒ All solved. I absolutely love this plugin :D Even mobile app is in development (but I guess it only works for the messaging part, not the entire FluentCommunity, right?).
Madis MarkΒ nicely done! Yep, the app is just for the messaging part. I havenβt played with it at all but some people in the support group on Facebook can tell you more about it
Stuart McKelvieΒ do you know if Better Messages' voice messages add-on works with Fluent Community as well? I use that in my current community and would love to bring that functionality over.
Kaneisha GraysonΒ I imagine it should. It all exists within the Better Messages inbox which is separate to FluentCommunity, so there shouldn't be an issue. I've not personally tried it though.
