Are social media heading towards the end of an era?

Although I noticed a shift in social media a couple of years back already; these last months have clearly been an eye-opener for me.

But clearly, social media is slowly shifting into a wall of ads, and groups on social media are losing their identity by being too picky on what and where people can post something.

Smaller communities are the future to my opinion and if you ever considered having a community, Fluent Community is one of the way to go!

I love this part you just mentioned - "Fluent Community is one of the way to go"

Been saying this since 15 years. At some point, each proper brand will have their own social network/community. And even later each proper company...

I doubt it. Most people don't like having 20 different apps for every site they visit.

I run a social media account with thousands of engaged followers, but I also have a community where I share the same content. I've been trying to get people from my social media account to FC for months now, even giving away free products to engaged members. People still don't want to join.

The reason is simple, why join a community when you can find pretty much anything you need in one place on social media?

MarekΒ I think there is distinction between connections based on convenience (most social followers) and connection based on content.

When it's convenience based they have low intention/desire to do anything that's not convenient as doom scrolling and seeing your content. If they don't see it life goes on without missing anything.

When they're connected for your content they want more and don't mind going to where they can get more. You will never see a 1:1 migration from social for that very dynamic. The same way over half your followers/connections will never buy your product.

But having a place for the serious followers to connect more deeply with you is what I gather from this video and the marketplace overall.

Lastly, people are already used to multiple apps on their phone to access multiple things. I used to use that argument but it didn't age well for me πŸ€·πŸΎβ€β™‚οΈ
