Almost done with the migration of a dozen of courses into FC…

The speed of this plugin is… outrageously fast.

And I mean that in the best possible way 😂

Congratulations to the team - outstanding work.

After spending a couple of years with BuddyBoss and then experimenting with other LMS platforms,

I can say without hesitation: this change is nothing short of remarkable! 👏

Almost done with the migration of a dozen of courses into FC…

Jorge de los Reyes

It kind of feels like… 😅

William Beem

I agree. It does exactly all I need and it does so very fast. Most people who use an educational platform only comment on it when they're dissatisfied, but I've had a few students who were impressed enough to say something positive about it.

Like you, I used BuddyBoss, LearnDash, and I also used Skool and Teachable. This is very comfortable for my needs right now. If I had some integration with Bunny Streaming, that would be the cherry on the cake of my day.

Manuel Müller

William Beem out of curiosity, what integration/ feature are you missing?

Jorge de los Reyes

William Beem Absolutely!

I’m using embed with bunny (Stream). Super fast and reliable (HTML).

Any reason to use Direct link? (Integration in the future).

I’ve always been reluctant to expose the direct URL 😅

William Beem

Manuel Müller I'd like an event/meeting calendar. That would be a good item to add, like they have in Skool.

Manuel Müller

William Beem event calendar is deeply missed....always thought this should be something easy like integrating fluent booking and some customization (maybe i was wrong).....hopefully we'll get this in the near future

Danno Sullivan

Have you guys seen this add-on for events? It's in beta but seems to be solid. https://fluentcommunityaddons.com/events-for-fluent-community/

Assaf Manor

The problem is the lack of a versatile quiz system. I'm currently using LearnDash and I don't see myself switching any time soon.

Jorge de los Reyes

Assaf Manor Assaf Manor yup!

still missing typical elements of a LMS.

And “details” that make the difference while creating and sharing courses.

I’m hopeful we will be seeing important enhancements.

The speed and reliability of the platform, makes it a very interesting investment for the switch.

I’m quite happy for now. But until I manage to adecuate it for our needs it make take a while too 😅

William Beem

Jorge de los Reyes I understand the desire for more and more features. However, I don't think the course aspect of FluentCommunity was ever evisioned or intended to compete with a full LMS like LearnDash or any other LMS.

Remember that FluentCommunity got its inspiration from Circle.so. There are no quizes on that platform, so FC is ahead in that regard.

https://circle.so/courses

Jorge de los Reyes

William Beem Totally agree with that :)

For example, I have no need for quizzes - and I’m sure many others don’t either.

But I see no problem in improving what’s already available: course overview pages, how resources are displayed (right now it’s just the file name, with no proper label), the missing resources tab, continuing the course from the last seen lesson, etc.

That’s what I meant with my message 😄

I’d also prefer not to see it bloated with unnecessary “features,” but instead to have a solid and flexible core experience. That’s all I meant 💪

Also, from the brainstorming sessions even before the beta, I remember conversations about how it was mainly inspired by Skool - even though over time it started covering other similar features, and serving as a fast substitute for BuddyBoss.

And then, you’re right William: later came the inspiration from Circle’s course builder 😄

Anyway, I think the team has done a great job with the build.

And, as we often say, they’re being very wise in deciding what to include (and not include) from community feedback 🥷🏻

Sergi Bosch

I’m of the thought that quizzing does not equal learning. Keep it lean.

Jorge de los Reyes

Sergi Bosch 100% agree

We use quizzes just for segmentation, out from the learning experience.

And have not looked back

That being said, there are some cases in which Quizzes are a must (even compulsory).

Eg.: on our sector, we may need to prove that the student qualified taking tests (GDPR compliance).

So for some, it would not be a matter of learning, but compliance.

Same happens for academies that qualify public servants. They need to prove they took quizzes.
