Suremembers and Surecart users, let’s figure this out together!

I know there are at least 5 of us in here who want to use Suremembers and/or Surecart with FC. I’m currently setting up my FC and am in contact with the Sure support team to make sure I’m setting up the integration with FC + SC + SM right.

I’ll share what I learn along the way in this thread. Hopefully we’ll get documentation to make this easier — from the Sure team or the Fluent team.

In the meantime, let’s help each other figure this out. Chime in below!

Remember too that Sure are building their own community plugin with SureDash. I would have thought they'd have limited motivation to provide full support and integration for a competitors product but maybe I'm wrong!

Ross FCA Ottokit (formerly Suretriggers) support has been super helpful so far. I really appreciate it. Copying and pasting their first response to me.

Kaneisha Grayson I appreciate you posting this. I'm almost at the point of connecting everything and it sounds like I will be using the same tech setup as you. It would be helpful to see your initial email that prompted this response. Would you mind sharing it?

Donovan Owens

Kaneisha Grayson Thank you.

Kaneisha G.

Donovan Owens another response from Ottokit:

"Hi Kaneisha,

Sincere apologies for the omission!

  1. You are right. It is missing "Ottokit".

  2. Since you are managing access to the SureMembers group directly in SureCart. OttoKit will be effective for Fluent Community access."

Kaneisha G.

Donovan Owens how is it going getting it all connected?

Tambria Kemp

Hi , i am using surecart , but trying to understand your use case... do you have pages outside of fluentcommunity that need protected the reason you are adding Suremembers in the mix?

The flow i have is using fluentcrm to automate access to the community and any spaces. I use surecart for the subscriptions and then when fluent sees a new or cancelled subscription a tag is removed. I have also done where suregtriggers removes or adds the tag. you can also block access by role if you are blocking access to the whole community.

Kaneisha G.

Tambria Kemp I need to protect my Events page which lives on my site outside of the FC portal.

Kaneisha G.

Tambria Kemp adding on that I do need to protect content on the regular Wordpress side of my site — just like you asked. Have you gotten your community set up? Still working on it?

I took a break and am now DETERMINED to get my community setup and open for business in November.

Chris Davis

I went the other way and used WP Fusion as the sync between all tools and access levels using tags in my CRM. Haven't had an issue yet.

Kaneisha G.

Chris Davis I will do a deep dive on it. Any chance I can get a video of your setup for linking it all together?

Chris Davis

Kaneisha Grayson did you still want this? Sorry for the delay

Kaneisha G.

Chris Davis I can wait. I am actually setting up my signup flow using Surecart, Suremembers, and Fluent Community RIGHT NOW. So I think I'm all set for now. Thanks for following up!

Kaneisha G.

Chris Davis hey friend! Which CRM aee you using with WPFusion? FCRM? I’m really struggling to get EVERYTHING connected fully.

Chris Davis

Kaneisha G. currently ActiveCampaign. Soon to be FluentCRM. Best thing is WP Fusion integrates with both to keep things clean and consistent.

Kaneisha G.

Chris Davis beautiful! Thanks for the quick response.

Jonathan Gwyer

I'm using SureCart to manage the subscriptions. Then FluentCRM automations to add or remove tags, and grant or remove Space/Course access, when subscriptions are created or revoked. Finally, WP Fusion (Lite so far) to grant access to WordPress content based on tags.

I may jump to the full WP Fusion to cut down on some the the FluentCRM automations, although Flowmattic looks really good too, but at the moment I'm very happy with the FluentCRM component being the hub.

Kaneisha G.

Jonathan Gwyer very helpful share. Thanks! I own both Suretriggers and Flowmattic, so I think I’m covered with automations. Just gotta connect it all!

Kaneisha G.

Jonathan Gwyer checking in! Do you have everything connected and working well for you? I took a break from working on my setup and am diving back in.

Jonathan Gwyer

Hey Kaneisha G. !

Things are going well, I've got 4 clients up and running with a couple more on the way. Plus I'm building my own demo site and am currently converting my client support site into a community portal.

Trying out FluentCart on a Community build at the moment - I just cannot resist an LTD!

What stage are you at?

Kaneisha G.

Jonathan Gwyer amazing update! Thanks for sharing and congrats!

Since it sounds like a major integration between Fluent Community and Fluent Cart will come out in a few days, I am shifting my focus away from trying to get it to all work together (subscriptions + access to restricted site content + access to Fluent Community).

Instead, I am focusing on setting up my video library of group coaching call recordings using custom post types, custom fields, and hyperlinked timestamps like Chris Davis showed me. Ideally, my video library would live inside FC, but my understanding is that lessons aren’t searchable and I think CPTs don’t work either. I might be wrong about that second part.

Once the FC-FC integration is live, I’ll get back to linking everything together.

Jonathan Gwyer

Kaneisha G. If you use the snippets from https://github.com/WPManageNinja/fluent-community-docs/blob/master/theme-compatibility.md you can use Theme Compatibility with CPTs

It's at the stage where pretty much anything is possible in FluentCommunity with a little outside-the-box thinking 😁

Kaneisha G.

Jonathan Gwyer thanks for the tip! I’ll check that out.

Phil T

yes please. Following. In the same boat.

SureCart, FluentCRM, FC, connected by WPFusion.

UPDATE: June 8, 2025

Surecart / Suremembers users: Don't try to avoid using Fluent CRM for managing access to your Fluent Community. Just use it. The free version is sufficient.

Here is the workflow I set up:

1) User purchases a Surecart product called: "Academy - Monthly"

2) Surecart creates a Wordpress user. The native integration between Surecart + Suremembers adds the user to the Suremembers Access Group called "Academy - Monthly."

3) Ottokit (formerly Suretriggers) automation:
TRIGGER: Suremembers: User is added to an Access Group
ACTION: Fluent CRM: Create/update contact. Add the tag 'member'.

Then, I have an automation set up for when a member is removed from an access group. Their FCRM tag 'member' is removed, which removes their access to the spaces/courses in FCRM with that tag.

I tested it, and it works!

This setup is similar to Jonathan Gwyer's setup as mentioned above. The difference between our two setups is that he uses WP Fusion tags to control what people have access to on his Wordpress site (meaning access to content outside of his Fluent Community portal), and I use Suremembers.

Jonathan Gwyer SureCart Q: Do you know if I can simply change the price of an existing subscription product without affecting existing subscribers?

Or should I create a new product?

Jonathan Gwyer

Kaneisha G. good question - I haven't tried that yet!

I have always favoured treating old prices as "legacy" plans, so if someone has an issue with their payment method and needs to resubscribe, I can decide whether I will let them resubscribe at the old rate or at the new. If you just change the subscription price you don't get that choice.

Although I guess, in that case, you could give them a discount coupon so that you can make it really clear what a good deal they are getting by you letting them stay on the old rate 😁

Kaneisha G.

Jonathan Gwyer I tried to change the price in the product settings and couldn’t get my custom checkout form to update, and quickly changed it back. So my take is the answer is that it does not work. And you make a great point!
