FluentSMTP 2.3.0 is out. Still Free, and for Community

Something I keep thinking about: this started as a weekend project. Today it runs on 600,000+ business sites, and a real part of what makes it good came from contributors on GitHub who sent patches because they cared. That is a beautiful thing, and it is why FluentSMTP stays free.

What's new:

  • Cloudflare Email Sending. New native provider. If your domain is already on Cloudflare, this is about the shortest path from "I need transactional email" to "it is sending."
  • Connection health monitoring. The worst email failure is the one you never see. A token gets revoked, the connection still looks healthy, and you find out three weeks later when a customer never got their password reset. FluentSMTP now checks every connection daily and alerts you on Telegram, Slack, Discord or Pushover the moment one breaks.
  • WP-CLI commands. test, health, stats, prune-logs. For the bad day when the broken emails are the same ones you need to get back into the site.
  • Better resend. Send it to your own inbox instead of the customer's, and every log now keeps a resend history.
  • Faster sending and faster logs. SMTP connections reused across bulk sends, and a proper index on the log table that killed several full scans.
  • A real test suite. The part I am most proud of. It already caught capability checks that were thinner than they should have been. It is in the repo if you want to steal the approach.

No pro version, no add-ons, no upgrade nag. It is what we give back, part of our Five for the Future pledge.

If you run FluentSMTP on client sites, tell me what still annoys you; I will try to include that in the next version.

PS: Have a minute and contribute? Please write a review, and that helps us a lot for WP Org: https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/fluent-smtp/reviews/ πŸ™

Super useful plugin and one area that often gets overlooked is the ability to disable email sending and just emulate the process.

Really useful when testing things out.

Excellent! πŸ™ I hope the team can redesign the interface soon with the modern Fluent UI/UX style.

And of course, with the new logo that ninjas haven't officially launched yet but that can be seen in various parts of the WPManageNinja websites.

Erick LaureanoΒ Which logo please? We did not update the logo yet!

Shahjahan JewelΒ You can see the new redesign FluentSMTP logo in some Menu options and illustrations, here look:

(I'm only allowed to upload up to 4 images, so I'll put it in 2 comments)

Erick LaureanoΒ Ahh got it.

Shahjahan JewelΒ here the second part

Shahjahan JewelΒ  Does this version use SES V2 API for Amazon SES? If I remember right, it previously used (and maybe still does use) V1.

If you’re looking for things you could put in a future Pro version, consider adding an easy way to style all transactional emails, e.g. by wrapping the content in a FluentCRM template. Oh, and Postal API support would be great. ;-)

Karl Emil NikkaΒ help me with a postal server where I can test.

Shahjahan JewelΒ Will do!

Amazing! Thanks

The best SMTP ever for WP :)

Teddy Skokos

Thank you for the continual development!

thanks

Really happy to have found it and how it works, keep the awesome work my clients and myself are really grateful for this :D

PS: I will use the cloudflare part definitely :D

When I looked for a SMTP provider, the dev team never suggested this plugin so I'm confused. Can someone explain to me how to configure that?

Patricia BT

Thank you for adding the AWS European Sovereign Cloud! I was waiting for this version :)

JF

Shahjahan JewelΒ thank you very much for this update. I use FluentSMTP in all my sites and I love it. It works great. The one thing I'm missing is a "Reply to Email" option. This exists in FluentCRM, but not in FluentSMTP. This is needed, because all WP notifications go directly through FluentSMTP without FCRM.

Could you please add this option in the next release? Thanks

Shahjahan Jewel

JFΒ Will add that :)

Shahjahan JewelΒ thanks. This would come in handy for sure!

JF

Shahjahan JewelΒ amazing thanks! Looking forward

This is awesome!
Btw I believe someone else also mentioned this but SMTP seems more hidden in the Fluent Forms interface it would be helpful to have it more obvious. If I remember correctly it was earlier more prominent such as in the left WP submenu.

It would be great to support Emailit.com, an excellent EU-based alternative to Brevo for transactional emails. It offers a comprehensive API, strong deliverability, and generous pricing. Even better if the logs will show "bounce" & "fail" status too :)

JF

Sascha LeemΒ 100%! ...I switched from Brevo to Emailit a while ago and I found it great. It would be amazing if FluentSMTP could support it directly.

Karl Emil Nikka

Sascha LeemΒ It’s worth knowing that Emailit transfers personal data to US based Cloudflare. https://emailit.com/privacy-policy/

Sascha Leem

Karl Emil NikkaΒ Thanks for pointing this out. As I understand it, this applies only to the account holder’s personal data and does not cover email traffic. Here is Emailit’s response to the support request I submitted on this matter:

"We do not use any third-party for your workspace related data. Only for our marketing websites, and your business information/account (Stripe and Cloudflare).Β

We are fully EU based and hosted.

DPA is part of our Terms of Service (Annex No.1).Β "

Karl Emil Nikka

Sascha LeemΒ Interesting response. Even the admin panel (https://app.emailit.com/login) is behind Cloudflare. Their DPA isn’t publicly available. If you would like to, you can share their DPA with me and I’ll take a look it.
