Fluent Forms lead magnet

I've been using a bit of a hack to create a lead magnet (i.e. you give me your email in exchange for a download or other resource). In effect it's just a form where the "thank you" page has the download link. This isn't ideal as (1) the download link isn't secured and could be shared with anyone to bypass the form; (2) generating the download link requires some HTML editing so I can't hand this over to a less technical team member.

In combination with FluentCRM we're slowly replacing our ConvertKit lead magnet forms.

Is there any chance that functionality to make this easier is on the roadmap for Fluent Forms in the near future? i.e. we create a simple form and one of the options is to grant access to the download and then FluentForms provides a simple download link with a secure (time limited and tokenised) link to download the file?

Alternatively, does anyone have a easy way to do this without adding on EDD or another large plugin to provide this one feature?

Easiest path is to put it behind a login. For free offers I think it's a bit overkill. As long as you're Leadmagnet is strategically structured somebody sharing it with someone else actually benefits you.

The rule thumb is that nothing will prevent someone from sharing anything available online. It's just the cost of doing business online.

Would sending an email notification to the form submitter's email address via Fluent Forms with the document attached work? Slightly more secure than the link on a page, can still be managed by non-technical users, and doesn't require any additional plugins?

Website Services

An email with the doc attached (instead of a link) is definitely an option. Combined with email validation in the form that could work well.

I'm still keen to be able to serve up time/token limited links on my website. I have no issue with a download file being shared (that's potentially a great referral) but doesn't mean we should allow anyone to bypass the lead magnet form on the website.

That's why I still use Groundhogg instead of FCRM, their "auto.link" shortcode added to the download URL in mails allows to log-in a contact automatically (up to 7 days after the mails is being sent).

I haven't seen this feature in FCRM yet and hope they will add it any time soon
