Affiliate Referral Format
Currently we can choose between:
- Ref=number
Ref=wordpress username.
I think it was Mat who pointed out that the system regarding numbers could not be ideal when you have a couple of affiliates.
QUESTIONS:

Formats like: "?aff=5d01f6b4". Are going to be possible in the future?

What happens if you change in general settings the Referral format from one to another. Will the affiliate still receive the commision? Let's say you are using numbers, and then , you change it to wordpress username?

Most affiliate links are a turn off because of the affiliate url structure. Why would visitors click on an ugly affiliate link when they go right to the source of the domain url, most modern affiliate plugins have direct link tracking so the webmaster can promote on their site without the use of affiliate links, however, if they promote on other sites, then they would need to use old and outdated affiliate url structure. I know FA is new but they have alot of catch up to do in order to compete with other affiliate plugins on the market. If you dont offer direct links, then most visitors can spot an affiliate link 10 miles away.
David Scurlock whats missing or what does it mean: a lot to catch up. Share your experience (if possible) so it can be considered and improved by Ninjas (if thats the case). On the other hand if I can learn from experienced users something new that is priceless too.
David Scurlock Totally agree that the structure of affiliate URLs can influence user trust and click behavior. That said, regardless of format, it’s important to remember that disclosing affiliate links is not optional…it’s a legal obligation in many jurisdictions (EU, US, etc.).
In my experience, many users appreciate transparency and have no issue using affiliate links (especially when it doesn’t cost them extra and they want to support a creator or get a specific bonus).
In fact, loyal communities often ask for your affiliate link to make sure you get credited!
So yes, improving link aesthetics is key, but building trust and offering value is what truly drives conversions.

That being said… yup! FA has a long way to go, but a promising future. What do you think of the plugin overall? 😄
Mat I made this huge post that just vanished. I thought it was posted then on refresh, it was gone or someone deleted it. So sorry. FC is either a bit glitchy or needs some type of auto save feature so posts are not lost and time wasted.
Jorge de los Reyes very true. I am getting FA lifetime but not for a live site. I think ninja should compare features from ultimate affiliate pro and affiliatewp, however, affiliatewp is a bit heavy since each addon is a plugin in itself. I currently use ultimate affiliate pro.

I also grabbed an FA LTD and have been playing around with it since the Beta. For me, the key point is -as always-that it’s a Fluent product.
The native suite integration and speed are top features. Still, I do miss things like multi-level commissions, product-based commissions, and a deeper integration with FCRM.
That said, I’m confident we’ll see many exciting updates in the coming months. The FluentCart launch will likely create even more momentum for FA. To be honest, a couple of months ago I actually thought FA would be part of FluentCart.
But seeing how many features you can actually incorporate, it makes sense to create a dedicated team!
Can’t wait for the upcoming updates. Let’s see when can we have a roadmap here too!
Jorge de los Reyes absolutely, at this point, FA has room to grow to become a leading affiliate plugin, and could easily get their features from other popular affiliate plugins, there is no need to reinvent the wheel. Direct linking and multi tier commission would be a big plus.
