What’s the Advantage of Native Audio Uploads vs. External Hosting?
The new audio upload module that was introduced seems to work by recording or creating the audio first and then uploading the audio file to the platform.
I can see how this could be useful for podcasts, voice lessons, or other audio content. But I’m struggling to understand the value of hosting the audio directly on my own storage.
Why would I use my server/storage and bandwidth for audio files when I can upload the same content to YouTube or another free hosting platform and simply embed it in FluentCommunity?
What is the main advantage of using the native audio upload feature instead of externally hosting and embedding the content?
Native upload keeps audio private inside your community and lets members post it themselves — a YouTube embed is a public link anyone can play, and only you can publish.
Habibur Rahman Delwar You can upload a unlisted video to youtube, and share it in your community, you can upload audio files to you storage and then share it from there.. there are atlead more than 100 other ways you can do it possibly... . the current feature add very little value...
For me I want audio I add/upload to be in my storage - i don't want it offsite other then bunny CDN or alternate. i would never want private voice messages on something like unlisted youtube :)
Privacy. If you know the youtube link, anyone can listen to it and for the privacy of your members this is not the best option. And if the service is free, you are the product (AI training for example and resale of meta data to advertisers, etc.) Then, you have to see the advantages and disadvantages and what you are ready to sacrifice as a private life
