Techie question: Fluent Player + Bunny.net security

I've been playing around with the settings so much that I'm no longer sure what the default/native configuration is. πŸ˜…

I believe that once the integration is enabled, Fluent Player sets CDN Token Authentication by default (not sure).

My question is: is Fluent Player fully compatible with both Bunny Stream's Basic DRM and Enterprise DRM? Or could enabling DRM cause any issues?

As far as I remember, DRM only works with Bunny Stream embedded videos. It would be a shame if that meant we couldn't use Fluent Player together with Bunny's DRM features. That combination would be really valuable.

Hi Jorge de los Reyes,

Once your Stream library and API key are saved, we automatically add a short-lived pass to every video link. It's tied to one video and expires on its own.

One thing to watch: stick to the token authentication on the Stream library itself. If you also switch on CDN Token Authentication at the pull zone level, that's a separate key our links won't match, and playback dies with a 403.

On DRM, We play your videos directly rather than loading Bunny's player in a frame, which is what lets us put overlays, chapters, hotspots, CTAs and analytics on top. That's the trade-off.

Basic DRM should work fine. Enterprise DRM won't work, so please leave it off for now. It needs a licence handshake only Bunny's own player can do. So right now, enterprise DRM should not work with Fluent Player.

Dhrupo NilΒ Thanks, Dhrupo. That clears it up.

So the correct setup is Stream library token authentication + Basic DRM, while leaving pull-zone CDN Token Authentication and Enterprise DRM disabled.

One final question: is Enterprise DRM compatibility on the roadmap, or is it unlikely because Fluent Player needs direct playback for its interactive features?

Dhrupo Nil

Jorge de los ReyesΒ Right now, Bunny does not support enterprise DRM without their built-in player as it needs a licence handshake only Bunny's own player can do. If in future they provide the support for any other player, then we can develop the feature.
