Feature Request: Embed video from Livid

I would love to request a feature for FluentPlayer to support video embedding from Livid, which is increasingly being used as a privacy-friendly or cost-effective alternative to Vimeo.

Currently, FluentPlayer works great with YouTube, Vimeo, and self-hosted options. Adding Livid to the supported multi-source embed list would be amazing for creators moving away from Vimeo.

Thank you for considering this!

Hi Angelique,

If you’re looking for an alternative to Vimeo, I’d suggest considering Bunny (affiliate link), specifically Bunny Stream.

I’m cautious about lifetime deals for video hosting because storage and bandwidth generate ongoing costs. There’s already a relevant precedent: Adilo sold lifetime access through AppSumo, then moved lifetime customers towards subscriptions, explaining that the original model had become unsustainable. You can see the original deal and Adilo’s own public explanation.

That doesn’t mean Livid will follow the same path, but it’s a risk I’d consider before moving a course library or building a dependency around it...

Bunny’s approach makes more sense to me: you pay for storage and delivery based on actual usage, with published rates. You still need to monitor consumption, but the pricing model is explicit from the outset.

Vimeo also deserves careful attention. Its bandwidth policy allows higher-usage accounts to be directed towards custom plans. I’ve personally had several clients run into this: after their accounts were suspended over bandwidth usage, Vimeo offered them a choice between paying around $20,000 or opening a new account without their existing videos. That’s my experience with those clients (not a few), rather than a claim that this happens to everyone, but it’s a major reason why I prefer explicit usage-based pricing.

Bunny Stream already has a FluentPlayer Pro integration, and FluentPlayer integrates with FluentCommunity, so there’s an existing route for this setup.

Personally, I’d rather see development effort prioritise established integrations with clear, sustainable hosting economics. Before adding another LTD video hosting provider, I’d want confidence in its long-term viability and an easy migration path if its terms change.

Hi Angelique de VisserΒ ,
Thanks for suggesting Livid support! Having more video hosting options would be helpful, especially for creators looking to move away from Vimeo.

Our R&D team will explore if Livid provide live API or dev docs available.

Dhrupo Nil

Livid doesn't provide any live API or devdocs yet. If they develop this and provide API, we can surely implement this.

Dhrupo NilΒ The Livid team contacted WPManageNinja Team a couple of months ago. I talked with their support. I can imagine they can provide an API if they are looking for you guys to add an integration. What happened with this conversation?
