Integration: Deepseek AI
The OpenAI integration is great, but I'd LOVE an integration for a Deepseek API. It runs great and is much cheaper.
It's cheap, but not good from a privacy perspective. All the data it gets is stored in China, which gives their government access. Not sure what data you have, but keep that in mind if it's something you need to protect.

Before the court order was in place mid-May, OpenAI only retained "chat history" for users of ChatGPT Free, Plus, and Pro who did not opt out of data retention. But now, OpenAI has been forced to preserve chat history even when users "elect to not retain particular conversations by manually deleting specific conversations or by starting a 'Temporary Chat,' which disappears once closed," OpenAI said. Previously, users could also request to "delete their OpenAI accounts entirely, including all prior conversation history," which was then purged within 30 days.

Manuel Müller That's another can of worms, but different. First, I believe in "Trust no government." The US has a 4th amendment to the constitution that requires due process to access your data. The Chinese government outright owns everything and does not require any due process to get your data.
While there will be court battles about the recent issues with ChatGPT, there won't be any battles in China about the government's access.
In addition to AI we should not forget that eyes are "everywhere":
- Five Eyes countries: United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand
- Nine Eyes countries: The Five Eyes plus Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, and France
- Fourteen Eyes countries: The Nine Eyes plus Italy, Germany, Belgium, Sweden, and Spain
- Partners of the Fourteen Eyes: Israel, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, British Overseas Territories
The alliances can collect and store your internet activity from your internet service provider (ISP), third-party surveillance, or activity trackers.
This data includes your IP address, browsing history, search history, phone calls, video calls, private messages, emails, and anything else that passes through your internet connection. Basically, if it’s sent via an internet connection, it can be tracked, recorded, and stored.
The Fourteen Eyes also have the ability to tap phone lines. In the U.S., this is legal under the Patriot Act, which was enacted after 9/11. Several attempts in recent years have been made to restrict the access granted by the Patriot Act, but Congress has continually struck them down and allowed the surveillance to continue.

Mat But otherwise, the weather is nice out and puppies are still fun when you rub their bellies.
In short, if you serve customers in the United States or Europe, it is an extreme geopolitical risk. Even if ignoring privacy concerns, it is not worth the few dollars saved. Attorney fees are not cheap.

Maybe integration with self hosted Ollama would be better for many of the reasons mentioned here.
