Unsuscribe a contact from automation (and also delete it)

I wanted to have an automation which will run a rengagement email each month, and in order to keep my list of contacts clean with only engaged people (which is extremenly important for email delivery in inboxes) I wanted to automate this process of contacts cleaning.

However this doesn't seem possible as in automations we are not able to change the contact status from an action. And if we could have also an action to delete a contact from an automation that would be also great, but not mandatory for my case.

Can you think of a turnaround for that?

Actually what I am doing is that I run a recurring campaign automatically each month based on a dynamic segment with conditions inside like people who hasn't open any of my email from 90 days for example, so they get the reengagement email, and for those of belong in this list I delete them or unsuscribe them manually.

But if we could automate that it would be great!

I am sure there would be other use of such actions anyway.

Have a scrub list too and looking for the same thing - would be great to change statuses in an automation. Save me some manual work..

I'm going to bump this convo up and tag Shahjahan JewelΒ on it as well. Because, this area of reengagement is sorely lacking with FluentCRM and has been for a long time.

I don't know why there isn't an action step available in automations to unsubscribe a contact. It really should be there.

Not only that, but YES there needs to be some automated way to trigger a reengagement campaign.

Right now, you basically have to use a combination of different automations and tags to mimic this functionality, but you really have to think your way through it. It shouldn't be this difficult. For now, it seems like you have to manually search/filter your list and add to a re-engagement.

The need for reengagement is pretty universal, so I think making this simpler and more automated is something that needs to be built in.
