Track email opens and clicks in automations and allow conditional filters
I want to create a better user experience in my automations whereby if they opened the first email, I want to skip sending them the second email, and fast-track to the third email while the rest would go through the journey to get the second, followed by the third email.
Is there a way to achieve this in Fluentcrm automation today?
Donβt think this is possible tracking opens, as this is an unreliable measurement, but maybe if they click on a link you can add a tag or something that can do the trick, but seems complicatedβ¦
Akira ZabalaΒ itβs actually a common feature with all the email marketing tools Iβve used and gives a better user experience because I donβt have to overexpose an offer to someone who has already seen it, while reminding others who havenβt.
Christopher MatchΒ yeah, I understand, but since a couple of years now the open rates are not a good measure cause some email servers scan each email and that gets marked as opened, so thereβs a los of βfalse positivesβ. This is beyond any service you use, itβs simply not reliable as it used to be. Best thing I can think of for solving this is to use a Smart Link that adds a tag for that user to be able to segment.
It all depends on how complex your email sequence/logic isβ¦
Akira ZabalaΒ I agree about the false positives but the ability to set conditions to send users who either opened an email or clicked on a link on the email to a separate journey, should still be a feature that is available for use and let the user decide whether to use them and how to use them.
The platform should not be the limitation.
Christopher MatchΒ No. It's not posible. The best workaround for now, is what Akira ZabalaΒ suggested you.
I agree with him. And you may know that what he suggested is right.
I understand your concern about the FCRM's "limitation" for you.
Nothing to do with that for now (and I don't think it changes in the future because open rate is definitively an unreliable metric).
Good luck finding a workaround.
Thatβs a shame. I wouldnβt use the term βmetricβ in this use case, but more of a useful indicator that despite being an unreliable metric, but remains a useful indicator for me to design better automations.
Itβs a shame we donβt have that and Iβll just have to live with it (and the unsubs) for now.
Christopher MatchΒ I understand your frustration. Whenever I find this kind of limitations it serves me as a good opportunity to polish my skills and rethink other possible paths. We humans tend to complicate things sometimes, so it's a good exercise to question the whole logic to see if it can be improved and thus be more compatible with the available tools to make it work. Even if you don't find a better way, you may end up validating your original logic as a better path, which is also good progress.
Hope that helps, I may be stepping into philosophical ground here...
What's confusing is that FCRM does track opens. IDK if it includes "machine opens" or not in that figure.
