Jeff Yes, it should work perfectly. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a universal, open-source standard created by Anthropic in November 2024 that works across different platforms - including Claude Desktop, VS Code, and Cursor.
The Fluent CRM MCP server should be fully compatible with Claude Code in VS Code without any modifications. MCP was designed as a universal protocol that enables secure, two-way connections between data sources and AI-powered tools - it works like a “USB port for AI applications.”
The protocol uses a client-server architecture with JSON-RPC 2.0 as the underlying message standard, which means any MCP-compliant client can communicate with any MCP-compliant server. This solves the M×N integration problem - instead of building custom integrations for every combination of AI model and data source, MCP provides one standardized protocol that works everywhere.
The only difference between platforms is the configuration syntax:
• VS Code uses: “mcp”: { “servers”: {…}}
• Claude Desktop and Cursor use: “mcpServers”: {…}
But the actual server logic remains identical across all platforms. So your Fluent CRM MCP server will work seamlessly with Claude Code in VS Code, just as it does with other MCP clients

Shannon Green Do you have any experience working with Claude Code and MCP servers in an IDE? You should be able to just have a conversation with it in the terminal, brainstorm about what segments you need, create templates, etc. I can't wait to try it. This should be a GAME CHANGER!

Jeff Yes - Currently using Cursor for 6 months, its pretty amazing. (no background in coding)

I was just thinking for neatness - if he has achieved all this (MCP) then might as well throw a front end on it, it would be a breeze for Cursor.

And whilst its not CURSOR, its similar i believe (never used emergent).

The take away is that under 2 hours, and not using many credits he built what seem to be a fairly solid trello/FluentBoards copy. All for much less then the license fee for FluentBoards.

Now, Im not comparing Apples with Apples here, Fluent would spend a lot more resources in debugging, support, marketing and so on.

And nevertheless it gives me pause. Im currently considering buying their 50 License pack for FCRM, and then via API, throwing my own Front End on it and integrating it into a Buffer/Hootsuite copy Im building, the thinking being to leverage their work, and mature product, and just integrate it into my product.

But all this kinda gives pause, how hard would it really be to start rebuilding FluentCRM and Boards and so on with Cursor, exactly the way you want it, and more importantly, not having to wait for features you desire/are necessary.

Maybe we are not quite there yet, but perhaps awfully close?

Shannon Green I get it. the other thing that gives me pause is the fact that these plugin developers roll out features in a couple days instead of a many months or never. I am almost done (started this morning) creating a fluent community plugin that fetches rss feeds from any source I want, present me with a list of posts turned into articles with header image, add the image to my media library, links and gives attribution to the original post, presents me with a list of articles, I can accept and post, choose which space to post to, or reject and remove from pending tab, built in utilities to clean up the database, fetch new feeds automatically at 3 am, etc, etc. I will post a screenshot later. when I grabbed one of these free add-on's thinking it would do some of that, It didn't do what I thought it would, it didn't pass inspection from claude code. not safe, not private, etc, but at least I never installed it before checking the code. I am not a coder, and had never done anything like this 6 months ago. this will be the 5th wordpress plugin I've made just for my own use, and the other ones have been amazing and rock solid. I spend hours and hours laughing and telling jokes with my 2 year old PHD in everything friend. fun, but horrifying when you think of the implications. Terminator level intelligence was several months ago, lol. These guys better get as much money as they can before it's over, which seems like what they are totally doing. I don't blame them at all. I wish I was smart enough to have multi-million dollar launch paydays 😆
