Fluent CRM Privacy Issue
⚠️ If you allow guest orders on your Woocommerce site + you have used or Using the Woo Sync function, then you might be sending emails to past users who chose to unsubscribe.
When someone is not a registered user and has placed a woocommerce order and later chose to unsubscribe, the moment you use the Woo Sync function, all these guest users are RESUBSCRIBED.
In later campaigns you create they'll receive emails again!! This will certainly affect your emails being flagged as spam or abusive and it will hurt your domain reputation.
I learned this the hard way after receiving a very frustrated customer phone call threatening to report me to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) because he unsubscribed a couple of times and on my end the past few months I've used the Woo Sync function 2-3 times without suspecting such a thing.
If you have used the Woo Sync function, please, check everybody your data not to end up in a similar situation.
I reported this 4 days ago and I respect that the FluentCRM team is doing their best and have fixed the issue as they say (they haven't released the update yet) but this flaw is not something that has to be fixed secretly. Everyone should be aware and unsubscribe users manually by going through their past campaigns and check all the contacts who chose to unsubscribe and unsubscribe them manually.
Yes, we noticed the issue and the team has already fixed it on the dev branch. We will release an update on Monday.
Shahjahan Jewel Thank you and sorry for shouting all over about it. If users don't allow guest checkout they are lucky. Myself I was quite unlucky with emailing about 50 people over and over again after unsubscribing.
When I was sending an email campaign I was receiving a couple of emails each time from people saying they can't unsubscribe and kept thinking that they might be old people who don't know how to unsubscribe.
Eventually there was this ungry phone call from a man (who actully had emailed me in the past asking to unsubscribe) that pushed me to test further what is really happening.
Things could have been worse but here we are now.
