Best Way to Clean Up an Old Email List?

I’ve got an email list sitting in FluentCRM - all double opt-in - but a lot of these contacts were collected a few years back, and I haven’t sent them any marketing emails since.

I’m trying to figure out the best way to clean this list up before using it again / rebuild sender reputation safely, etc.

I’m thinking about things like validating emails, removing inactive users, and avoiding deliverability issues, but I’m not totally sure what the best workflow or tools would look like here.

Would love to hear how you’d approach this, or if there’s a setup you’d recommend.

I think you also posted this in our Facebook group so I'm just leaving my answer in case anyone else wants to try:

1: email validation using any reputable tool

  1. Use the first 3 campaigns to determine who clicks your links

  2. Send 3-5 campaigns to recipients who clicked at least 1 link

Now you have a good list!

Nazir Himel Quick question on email validation;

If I export my FluentCRM contact list (which gets me a CSV file) and run that CSV through a tool like Reoon to clean it, I’ll end up with an updated CSV of "safe/valid" and "unsafe/invalid" contacts. What’s the best way to handle that from there?

Should I create a new list in FluentCRM and re-import the cleaned CSV list? Put all the "unsafe / invalid" contacts into a separate FluentCRM list and delete it? Or should I be thinking of a better/safer workflow for this?

Bren Kinfa Just update the list with unsafe contacts and give them an "unsubscribed" status. Ideally, you want to aim to delete unsubscribed contacts every 30 days.
