Avoiding the "Promotions" tab in Gmail
Hey! Do you have any tips for avoiding the "Promotions" tab in Gmail?
In my experience, the email was labeled as an advertisement when I used WP block editor. But when I translated everything to simple HTML, it went to primary inbox. Can anybody confirm this?
It makes sense, but I have also seen FluentCRM emails (with a nice looking template) which haven't gone to Promotions, so not sure what is the cause.
Google decides which emails will go to the promotions tab depending on your email body and subject, so there is not much to do here.
Also VERY dependent on WHERE your emails are sending from.. eg if coming direct from your web host then will most likely go to spam or promotions... using a reputable email sending provider eg Amazon SES or Sendgrid etc can greatly increase your ability to avoid this problem. We had almost 100% going to spam, mostly because shared hosting server someone else on same server had got the host blacklisted, so basically nothing we could do to rectify... moved to Amazon SES using FluentSMTP and now pretty much 90%+ deliverable.
The simplest trick is to make sure it reads like a conversation. But you can never be sure, as Google also demotes emails based on how often the reader reads a sender's email.
