Anyone using AWS Email Delivery Service Here?

I have a client with 600 members at the moment, may go to 1000 within a year, looking to use Fluent CRM. May send one broadcast per week. Should I just set up an SMTP email connected to Fluent SMTP? Or go with a transactional email provider, like SendGrid etc?

That's a very small number of subscribers. You can use any Email sending provider. We use Amazon SES.

Shahjahan JewelΒ Ok. So I could just set up a smtp email for this purpose and connect it to Fluent SMTP?

Ian Mackenzie

Shahjahan JewelΒ Yes, but once they start paying for an email sending provider, Fluent CRM does not compete with Mailerlite on price and it sounds like the Amazon SES is a bit of a hassle to get going. How many subscribers would my clients need to have to recommend using Fluent CRM?

Colin Stevens

Don't waste your time with Amazon SES. They said my low volume coaching only site was a threat to their platform and breached their use policy. Hilarious auto bot destruction of their business given the nature of our coaching is child education!

I have been using SES for the better part of 4+ years. As Colin StevensΒ  stated - they are known to reject some use cases. I have a template that I built for replying to them. I find the more specific you are in your use case and if you explain the number of subscribers that helps as well.

Colin Stevens

Philip LevineΒ I was very specific for a low volume education site with a very long response. Apparently that was a risk to other users so I went with mailgun instead. automated tools are horrendous. Once took months to get a client training page accepted on facebook - wessexoutdoortraining - as apparently their bots hadn’t heard of the founding kingdom of England and only picked up the bit in the middle!

Philip Levine

Colin StevensΒ I fully agree - I setup a separate SES account for each one of my clients. I set up 2 in one day and had one approved and one rejected with the exact same use cases for both. I escalated the rejected one and it took about 2 weeks but finally got approved.

The biggest issue for me is there is no consistency and there is no one you can speak to in real time

Ian Mackenzie

Philip LevineΒ Ok, thanks for the feedback.

Philip LevineΒ Thanks for sharing this, Philip! I have two questions:

1) Would you mind sharing the template? Or just the kind of details you consider critical for approval. Only if that's okay with you β€” no pressure at all.

2) How long did you wait after the initial rejection? (To escalate it!) I had a chat with Claude AI, and it recommended me to wait for 30-60 days before submitting another request. Apparently, it takes that long for a flag to clear in their system.

So in my case for example it was a homeowners association with 150 homes. The only people signing up were owners. I estimated no more than 300 subscribers and estimates that we would have 1000-1500 total emails sent per month. I explained in detail about the audience. On the ones that have gotten flagged, I then explained that they can see I have 100 linked accounts and others with the exact same reason got approved and to please review / escalate. As soon as I got the reply I replied back - I think the longest too about 2 weeks with the back and forth
