1 List Or 2 Lists?

Hey friends,

I have my contacts in two lists:

  1. Members - (joined my academy)
  2. Main - regular contacts who receive my newsletter

I'm moving from ActiveCampaign to FCRM. Do you suggest keeping 2 lists or 1 list and manage them with tags?

Bryan William

1 list, multiple tags

Ramsis Kasis

Bryan WilliamΒ thanks for the suggestion can you tell me why not 2 lists?

Bryan William

Ramsis KasisΒ for simplicity sake, list is for housing all the contacts, while tags for activity they took.

Well I'm in the same process, I see I'm missing the fact that lists are actually lists, with all related settings like subscribing/unsubscribing options and different opt-in email settings.

Looks more like tags, actually...

Sebastian

If you work with DOI and need individual DOI emails, you need more lists, because there is one global DOI or list-based DOI (each list can have its own DOI with DOI email).

Marco Mandaliti

SebastianΒ could you please be more specific?

I didn't see any other DOI email template other than the one in the settings page...

Sebastian

You find the settings in the list overview behind the gear icon from each list.

Oh great!

Thank you SebastianΒ

This is a matter of preference... I'd personally use two separate lists with tags within each list. This offers better organization and segmentation, particularly for large lists. It also provides more flexibility in controlling the double opt-in emails for each list.

Ramsis Kasis

JFΒ Thanks for the input ! In my case, I don't use double opt-in at all on my site, and my students subscribe through WooCommerce purchases, not through forms. Everything in my system is managed through tags (access, subscriptions, newsletter, etc.). Given that, do you still see an advantage to using two lists over one?

JF

Ramsis KasisΒ In your case, the main advantage is clearer management. I would organize contacts into different lists (newsletter, subscription1, subscription2, etc) for better segmentation and easier oversight. But that's my preference.

JFΒ It’s worth knowing that double opt-in isn’t properly working for multiple lists. If someone tries to add an existing contact to a second list, the contact is automatically subscribed without opting in. Hopefully, this gets fixed with FluentCRM 3.0.

JF

Karl Emil NikkaΒ Thanks for the information. I hope it'll be fix with FluentCRM 3.0. I'm currently waiting for the release of 3.0 to migrate from Brevo.

JFΒ Maybe Shahjahan JewelΒ can answer if it’s addressed in upcoming FluentCRM 3.0? If not, you can always use Fluent Forms’s opt-in feature instead (requires the Pro version).

JF

Karl Emil NikkaΒ Thanks. I appreciate it.
