Upgrade Paths Question

Is the only way for Upgrade Paths to work is within an individual product and it's variations? Can you upgrade from one product to another? Example: Starter Plan (Has a monthly and yearly variation) and Advanced Plan (Also with monthly and yearly variation). Being able to upgrade from Starter plan to Advanced plan?

Here is a bit more context: I have three plans, each with a monthly and yearly option. I want to use Upgrade Paths to make it easy to upgrade from monthly to yearly, and I would also like customers to be able to upgrade between plans.

This doesn't currently seem possible. I know that I could set up everything within one single product, but I think that would be limiting in other ways.

The ability to do this would mean the difference between me using direct Stripe product links vs FluentCart.

Kevin Watson

Jerad HillΒ Totally. I have three memberships. There needs to be upgrade paths.

Kevin Watson

So I created one membership with three variations and am able to upgrade and downgrade between all of them.

Your different tiers can be mixed variations of monthly yearly under one "product." Seems to work well.

Jerad Hill

Kevin WatsonΒ Yeah, I recognize that I could do it that way. However, I wonder how that will affect Stripe analytics as well as the analytics within FluentCart. I don't want to show one product sold with variations; I want to show three products sold and then be able to see whether those products are monthly or yearly. If all plans are one product, it will be hard to determine MRR and churn between plans.

Jerad HillΒ That is a question I do not have an answer for. Maybe you can create a test product with this, but you will have to get charged for you to see it. I would lowball the price to clear the fees only. You could write it off as part of your business just to see the tests...?

Yes, I need the same option :)

Our database supports this, actually. We will add this with the cross product in the future.

Shahjahan JewelΒ awesome I was literally looking through the community to see if this was possible!

Jerad Hill

Shahjahan JewelΒ Excellent news. I am looking forward to this feature.

Shahjahan JewelΒ this is great any idea where this might be in the roadmap? I was searching for an answer to this when I found this post. Currently having 3 products standard, premium and platinum with each having a monthly and annual option.

Upgrading from monthly to annual is possible now, but having the pro-rata functionality work when going from standard to premium or platinum would be enable customers to self serve the upgrade with no subscription interruption rather than cancelling and renewing which will interrupt access to content and even customers dropping off.

What about upgrade paths for bundles? Currently it says:

Upgrade Paths Temporarily Unavailable for Bundle Products

Upgrade paths feature is temporarily disabled for bundle products. This feature will be enabled in a future update
