Updating Digital Product Version
Is there a recommended way to upload a new version of a digital product. One of my products is a PDF. If there are any mistakes or updates, I want to upload a new version. The file names are the same. Ideally, I would want the download link in the order email to continue to work.
It looks like FluentCart puts the file in /uploads/fluent-cart with an internal name.
With Woo, I would overwrite the existing file and links would continue to work. This does not seem to work with FluentCart. I have tried uploaded the same internal file name. It seems to break some of the old links.
Anyone have a good, user-friendly process?
Currently there is no versioning support for digital products/assets. Anyway, download link in the order mail continue to work for 7 days only.
Ripon SarkarΒ Sure, I will open a ticket.
If I'm not mistaken, you could use the licencing system for this
Natascha VantuykomΒ good suggestion.
One more thing I forgot to mention is that instead of changing the file in the /uploads/fluent-cart directory, you can edit the downloadable asset with the correct file, and your existing download link will continue to work.
Ripon SarkarΒ If I follow, edit the Downloadable asset, upload the updated file, and select it. I thought I tried this, but will try it again. Thank you!
I tested this. I edited the Downloadable Asset, uploaded a new file with PDF_V1.5.pdf (old file was PDF.pdf). Selected it and saved. I then went back to my FluentSMTP logs to check old INV email links.
The purchases for today (12/24) URLs all worked. But the same purchases for 12/23 came up with a 404.
Mike Rads Thanks for the update. Since one is working but not the other, maybe there is something else causing the issue. Could you please allow our support team to handle it?
