Subscription management before switching from SureCart to FluentCart
Hi team! π
Sorry if this has already been answered somewhere β I couldn't find clear information on these specific points.
I'm currently using SureCart but seriously considering switching to FluentCart, especially since I'm already using FluentCommunity and the native integration is a huge plus for me.
Here's what's left before I can make the switch:
β Already seen/confirmed:
- Migration from SureCart β "Soon soon!" (excited about this!)
- Manual subscriptions / cash payments β coming next month
β Still unclear to me:
-
Admin manual subscription editing: Can an admin manually modify an existing subscription from the backend? (e.g., change the plan, adjust the next billing date, modify the price, etc.)
-
Self-service upgrade/downgrade: Can customers upgrade from a Basic plan to a Premium plan (or downgrade) directly from their account dashboard?
-
Proration handling: When a customer upgrades or downgrades mid-cycle, is the pricing difference automatically prorated?
-
Subscription pause: Can customers (or admins) pause a subscription temporarily and resume it later?
-
Cancellation flow & retention features:
- When a user tries to cancel their subscription, can we show them options/reasons before confirming? (e.g., "Why are you leaving?" survey)
- Can we offer a discount (% off) as a last-chance retention offer to prevent churn?
-
Cart abandonment recovery:
- Are there reminder emails when someone visits the checkout page but doesn't complete the purchase?
- Is this native to FluentCart or does it require FluentCRM automation
Are these features currently available, planned for the roadmap, or achievable via FluentCRM automation/code snippets?
Thanks so much for your help β and for building such an amazing product! π
Surecart has exactly the same integration with fluentcommunity as fluentcart has. Both need fluentcrm to work smoothly, but I must confess surecart has even better integration with fluentcommunity than fluentcart itself. It could be funny to you but thats how it is at the moment. surecart works better with fc dark mode than fluencart itself :) Of course it will be fixed, but surecart simply scales better pretty much unlimited and offloads a lot of requests. And they have exact the same integrations, nothing less nothing more. Your choice. But fluentcommunity is definitely #1 nothing beats it. I suggest asking these questions chatgpt because it does look through all docs and answers everything perfectly, at least the plus version does it like that.
CointacterΒ thank you it's interresting. I thought FluentCart had a native, direct integration with FluentCommunity (automatic access to spaces/courses on purchase, paywall setup directly from FC settings) without needing FluentCRM.
Raph PΒ bro talk to chatgpt, im just a person, robots are better.
CointacterΒ π Actually I did ask ChatGPT (well, Claude) and it told me the opposite β that FluentCart has a native direct integration with FluentCommunity without needing FluentCRM. We'll see
Raph PΒ I trust chatgpt more. Claude is better for writing not for analyzing. But I could be wrong, the world is more ambiguous than we think it is. So heres what gpt says (and everything the same with surecart):
Short answer: NO β FluentCart is not natively integrated with FluentCommunity, and NO β everything will NOT work without FluentCRM.
Letβs break it down clearly so there is zero confusion.
π₯ 1. FluentCart does NOT integrate with FluentCommunity by itself
FluentCart can:
- Add products
- Add to cart
- Checkout
- Send order confirmation emails
But it does NOT automatically:
- Assign roles after purchase
- Unlock FluentCommunity spaces
- Grant access to private groups
- Enroll users into courses
- Add profile badges
- Add users to membership areas
- Trigger onboarding flows
- Manage premium access
- Track lifetime value
- Handle vendor plans
- Handle marketplace access
- Connect to affiliates
- Connect to support desk
- Personalize community experience
FluentCart has NO built-in automation engine.
FluentCommunity has NO built-in eCommerce logic.
They need the βglueβ.
π§ 2. FluentCRM is the brain that connects everything
FluentCRM is not optional in your architecture.
It provides:
πΉ Purchase triggers
When someone buys via FluentCart β FluentCRM receives an event.
πΉ Automations
FluentCRM can:
- assign roles
- grant community access
- give premium space access
- enroll users into courses
- send onboarding emails
- tag users
- start sequences
- integrate with affiliates
- update vendor status
πΉ Community linking
FluentCRM β FluentCommunity binds:
- tags β access levels
- roles β premium spaces
- lists β groups
- tags β course enrollment
πΉ Data syncing
Everything critical runs through FluentCRM.
π‘ Without FluentCRM, FluentCart is just a checkout button.
It doesnβt βtalkβ to FluentCommunity at all.
π¨ 3. FluentCart + FluentCRM + FluentCommunity = full ecosystem
With FluentCRM PRO:
You get:
β Purchase triggers
β Role assignment
β Community access
β Onboarding flows
β User segmentation
β Vendor plan handling
β Subscription access logic
β Automated restriction rules
β Affiliate triggers
β Support desk priority rules
β Email marketing
β Webhooks
β API calls
With FluentCart alone, you get NONE of that.

ChatGPT said:
Yes β Iβve checked the documentation you sent, and here is the correct, precise explanation:
β FluentCart does have a *basic***, native integration with FluentCommunity β BUT it is very limited.**
It is NOT a full automation engine, and FluentCRM is still required for anything beyond simple access control.
Letβs break down exactly what the documentation confirms.
π’ WHAT NATIVELY WORKS WITHOUT FluentCRM (confirmed)
According to the official FluentCommunity docs:
FluentCart β FluentCommunity = sell access to community spaces.
Meaning:
β You can create a FluentCart product.
β Attach it to a FluentCommunity Space.
β When the user purchases β they immediately get access to that space.
β Access is granted automatically without FluentCRM.
β When payment fails or is refunded β access is removed.
This is a direct, simple integration ONLY for:
β Granting access to a FluentCommunity Space through a FluentCart purchase.
This works because FluentCommunity internally checks:
- Does user own FluentCart product X?
- If yes β unlock space.
This is native, and yes β works without FluentCRM.
π΄ WHAT DOES NOT WORK WITHOUT FluentCRM
The native integration is VERY limited compared to what FluentCRM Pro gives you.
Hereβs what you CANNOT do without FluentCRM:
β No automations after purchase
- no welcome email sequence
- no onboarding flow
- no tagging system
- no behavioral triggers
β No role assignment
FluentCart by itself does NOT assign WordPress roles.
β No advanced access control logic
You cannot combine rules like:
- βAccess if user bought X OR Yβ
- βAccess only if subscription is active + user has tagβ
- βAccess if user is premium vendorβ
β No subscription automation
FluentCart subscription events will NOT:
- send emails
- update user segments
- change roles
- upgrade/downgrade access
β No CRM profiles / segmentation
You wonβt have:
- customer lifetime value
- purchase history analytics
- segmentation
- tags
- lists
β No integration with affiliates
- FluentAffiliate needs FluentCRM to track conversions deeply.
β No integration with FluentSupport
Support priorities, ticket routing β require FluentCRM.
π‘ SUMMARY OF TRUTH
β YES β FluentCart can unlock FluentCommunity spaces without FluentCRM.
(basic membership access only)
β NO β FluentCart cannot automate anything else.
(no tags, no roles, no onboarding, no courses, no advanced access)
π’ FINAL ANSWER (super clear)
β FluentCart CAN unlock spaces in FluentCommunity natively (basic).
β FluentCart CANNOT handle ANY advanced automation without FluentCRM.
CointacterΒ ok thank you π«‘
π₯Έ Iβm now officially cheering on the AI bubble pop, if for no other reason than to end the scourge of AI community posts and incorrect information.
Charlotte DΒ AI sure can talk a lot of s**t. Both ChatGPT and Grok often fall back to believing FluentCart is WooCommerce compatible for some reason, and they provide WooCommerce specific functions and such when I ask about FluentCart. Sometimes it amazes me with great answers and analyses and equally as many times I'm amazed by the total crap information they give π
Charlotte DΒ chatgpt was telling me that fluentcart isnt integrated with fluentcommunity natively because it was answering my specific use case scenarios all the time. I'm doing things that nobody else is doing apparently, social mining plugins, crypto payments for fluentcart and surecart plugins.... There are always more details
Thank you for bringing up all this interesting questions !! Another example that we are eager for the migration tool!
I can answer a couple: (1) yes, but it wonβt affect existing subscriptions just the one you edit. Not sure about the date: I now what settings you are referring to in surecart, and havenβt test that yet; (2)yes itβs called upgrade paths; (3) yes; (4) no. But this surecart subscription savers are a must so +100!; (6) not yet. But probably it will work with FCRM
Hello Ralph, I've been testing point (1), and can confirm that: it is currently not possible to edit a subscription from the dashboard. (You can just edit the product price and that edition will apply to later subscribers). But I find no way of editing the price of an actual subscriber, dates, or others, as you can currently do on SureCart :(
Tagging Jewel here, because, this is a really handy feature. Like, the subscriptions saver, cancellation feedback, and so.

PS.: I've seen we have an option called "fetch Stripe Subcription". Not sure if we can go to that subscription on stripe, modify it, and then... fetch.
