Studiocart betraying their LTD users (acquisition): opportunity for FluentCart?
I have this LTD - so I'm personally affected by this announcement - and I don't agree with the 'betrayal' take at all. The original developer didn't sell. She closed the business. By necessity. And instead of walking off from it, which is completely and totally her right, she worked it out for another company to try and catch the old customers so they weren't dropped completely.
Now whether we, as SC users, like the new StudioPress Cart and/or the developers remains to be seen. And I don't know if I'll make the move or move on all together.
But what I do know is that if we - as WP ecosystem users - run all of the independent devs out of the WP space by criticism before, during, and after then we're going to be left with nothing but institutional dev projects funded by investment companies.
Something to consider in weighing POV when posting.

Charlotte D Let's call it what it is: a LTD that lasts 5 or 6 years is a betrayal, whether you like it or not. The special price that will be offered will most likely be a yearly one (my guess), so let's not be blind to what just happened.
Charlotte D A lifetime deal is for the life of a product. As noted, the product is now at the end of its life. It's time to move on to something else.
I'm also a StudioCart owner, but I don't use it. I'm pleased with FluentCart and the related plugins, so I won't be taking them up on their new product.
It's heartbreaking for a company to sell out. It happened with Thrive Themes years ago; the heartbreak of them selling their company is more painful than the heartbreak I received from my Ex-Lover. Till date, I'm yet to recover from Thrive Themes' emotional Shockwave...
Some of us don't just love a product, we fall in love with the team behind it.
I referred Thrive Themes all over the internet without receiving a single penny for affiliate commission, that's pure love for a product I care about.
Currently, I praise wpmanageninja products, in various YouTube channels, social media, in my community, and sometimes in this community, without even signing up for their affiliate commission, that's pure love...
All I'm trying to say is, please don't sell your company, because people like me are deeply wounded
I wrote my first comment based upon the publicly available information that StudioCart was closed, not sold (said information having been released from PublishPress - the new owners). But today that's all being spun differently and StudioCart is using the word acquired. So 🤷🏻♀️ the truth, but those two things are not the same (closed vs sold).
I stand by my opinion that we, as WP users, should take care not run the independent devs out of WP.
