Inventory Management for Recurring Subscriptions

Hello,

I'm selling a monthly recurring membership with a limited Founder offer, available to the first 10 subscribers.

I've enabled Inventory Management and set the total stock to 10.

I'd like to confirm how stock management works with recurring subscriptions:

  1. Is stock reduced only when a customer purchases a new subscription?
  2. Do automatic monthly renewals affect the stock quantity?
  3. Once all 10 subscriptions are sold, will FluentCart automatically prevent new purchases while allowing existing subscribers to renew normally?
  4. If a subscriber cancels their membership, is the stock automatically restored?

I want to ensure that only 10 customers can purchase the Founder membership, while existing subscribers can continue renewing without interruption.

Thank you for your help!

Thank you for the detailed question. Your setup works the way you want it to. Stock goes down only when a customer buys a new subscription, and the automatic monthly renewals do not change the stock at all. When all 10 spots are sold, the product shows as out of stock and nobody new can buy it, but your existing subscribers keep renewing normally. If a subscriber cancels, the spot is not added back automatically, so your Founder offer stays capped at the first 10 buyers. If you ever want to reopen a spot, you can raise the stock quantity on the product by hand.

PS: We may introduce a configurable option to reduce the stock on renewal in future.

Shahjahan JewelΒ Interesting. I've seen e-commerce tools that have a "tiered price cap" feature (don't know the correct term at the moment) It allows you to configure different pricing per quantity or based on time. You could do Early Bird pricing for the first X purchasers or until a specified date and time after which pricing would move to the next tier, and the next tiers are also shown with the increased prices. All this is shown to the customers for maximum transparency.

This topic made me think of this and how it might be cool to add to FluentCart at some point as well.

F. C.Β I think you give dynamic discount based on quantity or cart total using our dynamic pricing module (built in pro feature).

Shahjahan JewelΒ I've created a feature request just now in the FC support portal. The ticket number is #5293

The current Dynamic Pricing feature in FluentCart is not the same and doesn't cover what I had in mind. The ticket contains all the details :)
