Charge full on cancelation
I was wondering if this could be possible with FluentCart.
Use case: you can have monthly and anual plans (normal use case). Or just anual (special use case), but allow the user to pay monthly with an annual commitment.
This could be super handy for services and financial industries in which we have annual agreements with renewals but want to offer flexibility with payments. So if someone cancels before the agreed time, you can charge the coming installments of the package :)
So your idea is to sell the full annual price, but offer a payment plan for installments. I think this has more to do with your contract than with the shopping cart.
If they cancel at 6 months, do you want the full remainder of payment immediately, or will you continue allowing installments? Will you still allow them access for their full year since they paid for it?
This isn't very uncommon. If they agree for a full year, they pay for a full year. The installments continue and so does their access. They just won't automatically renew for the next year.
William BeemΒ Hi William, exactly - the idea is to allow annual agreements with monthly payments, but ensure contractual commitment for the full year. (And possible renewals for years ahead - quite common in legal businesses btw).
So yes, the contract is key sure, but ideally, FluentCart could help enforce this logic technically:
- The user commits to 12 months (this is stated in the terms).
- They pay monthly, but if they cancel early (e.g. in month 6), weβd automatically charge the remaining 6 months in full, since itβs a yearly contract, not a monthly one.
- Alternatively, if FluentCart could continue charging the remaining installments without interruption, even after cancellation (until end of the year), that could work too.
This setup is common in service-based businesses (coaching, legal, consulting) where access may not be the main product, but rather the commitment and resource planning involved.
Itβs a hybrid between flexibility in payment and firmness in legal commitment.
Would love to know if FluentCart can accommodate this logic or if weβd need a custom flowΒ
Iβve seen that you can enter subscriptions + add installments in fluent cart. But I do not see a logic in which it will be renewing each year.
Usually, clients are more sensitive (at least in our industry) to not losing support, service, etc.
I am aware that a workaround could be just setting a monthly subscription. But that will not comply with the need of, charging full year, technically, on cancellation.
