Can You Modify a Subscription's Next Invoice (Renewal) Date?
I've just set up FluentCart Pro with a membership subscription and am using Stripe as the payment gateway. I am still in testing mode. I created a test subscription and am going through all of the "issues" I face with my previous membership plugin that currently handles my membership payments β I hope to switch over to FluentCart entirely (using Stripe and PayPal).
One of the issues that comes up often enough for me is that I need to adjust the next renewal billing date for a subscription by a few days, plus or minus (for various customer service reasons). In test mode in FluentCart, I am not finding a way to adjust the "Next Invoice" date.
Behind the "three dots" (icon) of the subscription, I see a "Fetch Subscription - Stripe" option that opens a pop-up window asking, "Fetch from remote and update the subscription?" But when I click this, in the subscription page that opens up, I still don't see a place to edit the next invoice date.
Is this because I am in testing mode, or is this not at all possible in FluentCart?
+1 - Definitely a need for small service based businesses.
The problem with subscription is, many payment gateways like PayPal does not support subscription modifications. We may make it happen for supported payment gateways like Stripe.
Shahjahan JewelΒ ~ Oh great! Thank you for considering adding this feature for Stripe. I just checked with Stripe support, and they said recurring membership owners like myself can go into our Stripe dashboard, and on a customer's subscription, we can click to "Update Subscription." And inside, we have the option to manually add "Trial days" (not subtract though), which will change the next renewal date to a date later in the future.
My follow-up question to you, Shahjahan, is that until this feature is (possibly) added to FluentCart, will a manual subscription renewal date change on Stripe automatically sync back into my customer's upcoming billing date back in FluentCart (I assume using a webhook and what they refer to as the billing cycle anchor). Or if I make a renewal date change there on Stripe today, will this cause the renewal date in FluentCart to be out of sync, and will the dates be different in both places now? (which would be a real mess)
Thank you for any clarification on this critical issue for me! π
Shahjahan JewelΒ This is the one feature I miss from WooCommerce Subscriptions. I don't mind so much going into Stripe, but when training clients it's hard enough getting them to remember everything as it is. I prefer to make things easier not add more work for them.
Update: For anyone following with interest, I did a test and manually added a single extra day to my testing contact on Stripe website via this βTrial daysβ method (mentioned above) and when I went back into my subscription plan info for this test customer in FluentCart, the βNext Invoiceβ date had βautomaticallyβ changed from Nov 23 toΒ November 24. So, probably fair to say the change worked as hoped, and this should be a viable interim option for us with customer service needs.
Curtis BiselΒ Thank you. I do miss the user being able to change their own subscription date when they log into their account.
