Where should we take Courses next? - Need your take 🙏

Shahjahan Jewel at first, I really did not want to go the course way. I wanted to stay with LifterLms. But, I felt very soon that the integration and simplicity of using community with courses was the way to go.

What I like to see next:

Cohorts. The ability to 'restart' a course several times from a new date. Also, with that, at the moment, when I want to start a course from a specific date, and want to use drip, I need to set every drip date. It would be easier if we can set a start date, and let drip be inherited, like 1 day after start.

Drip on lesson.

Those two are next on my whishlist 🙂

Right now, I run my courses on a Moodle instance because FCom doesn't offer enough for me to make the switch. I really need essays/assignments, personally! That's the first thing I need! The courses feature is great for people who are offering knowledge-based courses, but it needs improvement for skills-based courses like language learning

Drip Lessons, duplicate lessons

I would like to see H5P integration i.e. if the H5P plugin for WordPress is installed, the ability to add a shortcode to H5P material so that it can be integrated in the courses.

Possibly the ability to integrate SCORM courses too.

Like Natascha Vantuykom I didn't expect/want to run courses on FluentCommunity... As I'm using LearnDash. But it's so easy, so logical to move everything on FCom, the spaces, the discussion, the mobile part... the simplicity !!!

Right now, all my courses are on LD, but my new course is about to launch and it will launch on FluentCommunity ! I decided to make the jump.

But as I mentioned in a previous post, right now, the only thing which is stopping me to move my other courses over FluentCommunity is the missing LaTeX support... And I won't be able to move 2 courses just because of that.

I would love to see features like:

• categories with modules and lessons for better course structuring,
• more flexible drag-and-drop ordering for courses and groups,
• the ability to select multiple FluentCRM lists or tags directly within course settings.

Hey, great that you're asking directly – here's my feedback from running courses in FluentCommunity:

My #1 request: Fixed drip timing instead of enrollment-based timing

Right now, when someone enrolls and you use drip content, the next lesson unlocks relative to their enrollment time. So if someone buys at 11pm, Day 2's lesson also unlocks at 11pm.

What I'd love: the ability to set a fixed release time per lesson – e.g. "Day 2 unlocks at 9am, regardless of when the student enrolled." This is crucial when lessons include daily tasks or challenges that make more sense at the start of a day.

Additional feature wishes:

• PWA app & push notifications – This is a big one. Right now I need a third-party tool to send push notifications to my community/course members. A proper PWA with native push notification support would make FluentCommunity a real standalone solution – no extra tools needed. I know you are working on it, I am waiting for it :)
• Certificates – A simple, customizable certificate of completion would add a lot of perceived value and makes courses feel more "official."
• Lesson-level discussions inside Spaces – There's already a comment section below each lesson, which is great. What's missing is a way to surface those discussions within a Space, so the conversation stays contextual without needing to go back into the lesson view.

I am currently not using FC for courses, still on Learndash.

And I haven't checked FC enough to state what it can improve.
- Certificates is something requested by users
- And I would like a migration tool from Learndash. Although I could run a migration manually there is a lot of history that will be missed (course completions, lessons completed, quizes accomplished, enrollment dates and so on).

I would love to see:

1. A native shortcode solution for displaying course grids or course lists on any landing page.
2. Roadmaps / Learning Paths: a way to configure which course or bundle should act as the starting point. LearnDash, for example, allows you to group courses into an itinerary with custom progress bars and rules for unlocking new content.

Any feature that helps users better understand where to start, where they left off, or what their next step should be would be extremely valuable. Again, shortcodes could be very helpful here as well.

1. Group Access: for those selling B2B training or qualification programs, I feel there is a missing feature that LearnDash handles quite well. One company purchases a group license (for example through FluentCart) and can then attach or manage a specific number of users/employees under that purchase.

I believe this could significantly foster B2B online course sales.

1. Better Lock Screens: video teasers, tabs, screenshots, and more sales-oriented layouts.

People are becoming very used to seeing creators simply share a Skool-style landing page with a video, screenshots, testimonials, and clear CTAs. I think it would be very helpful to have more conversion-focused lock screens built natively into Fluent Community.

The current paywalls, FluentCart integration, and CTA system are already great. But anything that helps creators increase conversions and sales would be very welcome.

1. And again, I will mention my most requested feature:

Most course creators (both B2C and B2B) attach many files and downloadable resources to their courses. I feel the current Documents section for Spaces and Courses is not very customer-oriented.

Many Fluent Community users are already relying on external solutions like WP Cloud plugins simply to share files.

I would strongly suggest introducing a dedicated CPT and section such as:

/portal/files/

with a fully browsable resource library.

This would be incredibly valuable not only for sharing creator resources or company libraries, but also for monetizing downloadable assets behind a paywall.

Most mature e-learning platforms already offer something similar, and I would be happy to share examples.

More generally, I think the “public community + paywall” approach still needs some refinement. With the current setup, it is difficult to properly protect content while still maintaining an appealing public-facing experience.

Right now, users are often pushed into either:

• fully public communities with very simple lock screens, or
• completely private communities.

A more flexible middle ground would be amazing.

Course Feature Image

Finally it seems a feature image for courses is in development! fingers crossed it's released sooner than later. Be great also if you can have the overlay feature for it like Learndash has i.e the image has a filter added over the image to give a grey effect for the title of the course to stand out in white.

The white is actually an overlay font title that it placed over the image. A nice added feature to include the title of the course as an option or not over the feature image.

Course Timeline

A vertical trail mapping of the course would be great. It grabs the courses, lessons, and topics from the backend and automatically maps them down a sleek vertical line.Dynamic Progress Filling: As a learner hits "Mark Complete" on a lesson, the circle node on the timeline changes color (e.g., turns green with a checkmark), and the connector bar fills with color leading down to the next uncompleted step. I need 2 things for FC courses:
- video assignments / video coachings - sent in for review. So asynchronous audio and video recordings from the users sent as assignment tasks - esp. for coaching settings where users need to show / practice what they learned in theory (with feedback in text, audio or video). This includes transcripts for every sent audio/video and - if the trainer replies at a certain time of the video - it automatically takes the timestamp of that time with link to the video at that time for the repy comment/video.
- event planning with a link to a video meeting service like Zoom, etc. (there are options available) or an internal video service (via bunny CDN?) that also provides the recordings right in the event where the video + recording started

Nice ! Still on learndash on several websites too cause i can't integrate gravityforms or any other shortcodes / html in the lessons directly to shape the course experience or gate the next step. And with AI tools now easier to code, i would like to put them directly in this lessons too.
But i like the speed and simplicity to have courses+spaces in the same UI so it's probably hard to have both worlds.

Reason: My business model is more of a academy than a community.

I have a ton of ideas alot of the features I need are similar to tutor LMS and others

I run an online film school with FC so the courses are wildly important for me. Right now have 22 courses with 130 lessons. A few wishes:

1) The ability to order the courses on the page. My training falls in a specific succession and right now I have the courses page hidden on the community as there's no way to specify an order.

2) The ability to include group discussion on lessons. I know you can add comments to lessons, but I don't want comments spread all over the place. I have a group for each course, and that's where discussion happens. Having the comment area on a lesson show the related group would be HUGE.

3) The ability to have course progression. I don't need lesson progression, but would like to lock down certain courses until another is completed.

And last wish?

Your official recommendation on a mobile app. Is it LazyCoders? I don't want to dump money and time in the wrong direction.

I'm currently in the process of migrating my courses over from WPComplete (which uses a WP CPT for all course lessons). I would love to see:

1. More Flexible Course Listings:
   Right now, a user sees all of the courses only in a visual grid, but they see a list of ALL courses and sorted in THEIR method of preference. The downside is if we, the course creators, wish them to see the courses presented in the order that we know will benefit them the most.

   Simplest example (Courses to learn a software application in preferred order): How to install the software. Learn the interface. Basics of using the software. Expert tips.

   If the user chooses their order alphabetically, or last added, etc., they won't see these courses presented in the order we prefer them to experience them.

   Maybe giving us the ability to create a drag-and-drop course text LIST (not a thumbnail grid) that we control would be fantastic. Because, right now, I'm having to add a "1" , "2" , "3" before each course name, and hope they choose to sort alphabetically.

2. Add Tag-based "Conditional" Block:
   I want to be able to show and hide content in lessons based on tags. Other WPManageNinja plugins have the Conditional "Gutenberg" blocks we can add, and choose a FluentCRM tag to do just this. It feels sorely missing from FluentCommunity.

   Example 1:
   Instead of showing 2 videos at the top of a course lesson, which is ugly and bad "UI", members who identified themselves before as Apple users that have a FluentCRM tag "Mac" will see a single FluentPlayer video that corresponds to doing the lesson topic on a Mac computer, and those with a "Windows" FluentCRM tag will be shown the FP video edited for Microsoft Windows users. (1 video instead of 2!)

   Example 2: "Silver members" get to see most of the material in a specific course lesson, but "gold members" also get to see a special (hidden) section in the lesson where they can click and download a PDF version of a worksheet because they have a special "Gold" FluentCRM tag.

3. "Bonus Lessons" Available to Members With Special Tags:
   I would LOVE LOVE LOVE ... to be able to have bonus course lessons inside of a course that are only shown and accessible to members who have earned a special FluentCRM tag.

   Maybe they clicked on a link in an email newsletter, or they filled out a FluentForm questionnaire, and now they have earned a FluentCRM tag added to their profile called "Bonus 1." I would love to be able to gift them a very special course lesson just for them to see.

   (Sure, I can create a private course and assign this tag, but that's a big container for a single lesson. And if I want the lesson to be added as "bonus" material in a given course, to add context to the learning of a particular topic and building on previous lessons, having it in an established course would be better)

4. Add "NEW" badge next to Newly Added Course Lessons:
   I realize some course creators have the ability to create all course lessons and then release them at the same time, and never add more. But, myself, I create many of my courses and then add extra lessons (weeks, months, or sometimes years later!) as members let me know what extra help they need on that topic.

   I would LOVE to be able to have a colorful little "NEW" square-looking graphical badge (that I could modify to my aesthetic pleasing with CSS) added to the end of course lesson names when they are newly created/added. Maybe have a setting for the badge to either go away after the user clicks the lesson for the first time, or after a set time (like 1 month after the lesson is first added).

   Right now, if I add a course lesson to an established course, a user who isn't particularly observant of "new lesson" emails or notifications might miss out on a great lesson as they click through various courses, because they already looked through course lesson names a couple of months earlier, and they ASSUME no lesson is new.

I need WPML support to be able to have a website in multiple languages an courses translated. I'm stuck with BuddyBoss & LearnDash because of this lack 😢

I would like to organize lessons in different ways at the same time.

For example like by learning foreign language:

• by level
• and by topic/category

I really like this structure because it helps users find content more easily depending on what they need. So if I have 200 lessons, I can group them into different categories and courses.

I’ve added courses to spaces. Basically assign specific courses to users in a space and give the moderators a progress report.

I’ve wanted to migrate my second platform from BuddyBoss + LearnDash to FC for a long time, but there are still a few features missing — Zoom integration, a question bank, tab-based navigation in quizzes, and a field for answer explanations for each question.

Shahjahan Jewel That's a great initiative! We're still currently with LearnDash, but as soon as we've migrated from EDD to FluentCart (hopefully in the next couple of weeks), our next project is to move our courses from LearnDash to FluentCommunity, ideally in the next few months.

The sequential lesson lock in 2.5.0 is exactly the kind of thing that makes us more confident about migrating — thank you again for that. I've started mapping the remaining feature gaps, and here are the ones that would make the biggest difference for us:

1. Space expiry: We onboard cohorts and give them access to a specific space (unlimited) and access to specific courses for a set period (usually 90–180 days). Being able to set a course expiry date tied to a specific space membership would be essential for our model. When the access expires, space members lose access to the courses but keep access to their space.

2. Space-specific lesson drip by date: We occasionally drip lessons while a live workshop is unfolding. It would be very useful to specify on which date a lesson becomes accessible to members of a specific space.

3. Per-question quiz feedback: Learners should be able to see not just which answers were right or wrong, but also read an explanation of why — why the correct answer was correct, and why the wrong answers were wrong, with pointers to which part of the course to revisit. This is one of our most pedagogically important features.

4. Auto-complete lessons and topics: Now that sequential lock is in place, the remaining friction is the manual "mark complete" click before moving to the next lesson or topic. Being able to auto-complete a topic as soon as it's accessed would make the learner experience much smoother, as they'd just have to click "next" without having to first mark the topic/lesson complete.

5. Resume shortcode: A shortcode we can embed anywhere — in a space, a page, or a sidebar — that takes the learner back to the last lesson or topic they accessed. Particularly useful for returning learners.

6. Notes module: Learners can take notes per topic, lesson, course, or space, synced across devices, auto-titled based on the content being viewed, and printable or exportable as Word or PDF. The module should be collapsible so it stays out of the way for users who don't want it, and pinnable/movable for those who do.

7. Certificates: Gutenberg block-based design, PDF auto-delivered by email on course completion.

8. Time-gating: The ability to prevent course completion unless a minimum amount of time has been spent in lessons. We use this to prevent learners from rushing through a 12-hour course in 20 minutes just to get a certificate — our quizzes can't be failed by design, so time-gating is our primary safeguard. This doesn't need to be based on video playback; time spent on the lesson page is sufficient for our use case. A question checking the user is still here after a specified amount of time, stopping the timer until the user replies, is also necessary, to make sure it's time actually spent watching the course content.

9. GamiPress integration: Two specific things would be game-changers: leaderboards scoped to a specific space (so participants in a live workshop can see how they rank against each other — great for motivation), and course-specific point types (points that are tied to a specific course, separate from global points).

10. Duplication: Ability to duplicate courses, sections, lessons, and spaces. Essential for reusing course templates across cohorts.

11. Conditional content: Display content only to users who are members of a specific space or enrolled in a specific course — useful for inline upsells, space-specific resources, and cohort-specific messaging.

12. Advanced per-user analytics: When a learner started a course, total time spent, time to completion, time spent after completion and last lesson/topic accessed. Useful for both us and the learners themselves, but mostly useful for our clients, so they can see that the participants actually use our courses, complete them and spend time in them after completion.

We plan to develop workarounds for some of these ourselves as snippets or plugins while we wait, but we'd much rather see them implemented natively. Knowing which items are on your roadmap would help us focus our development effort on the ones you won't be covering.

We'd be very happy to test any of these features as soon as they're ready — our EDD to FluentCart migration should be done within weeks, after which courses become our full focus.

PS: A course player in the sidebar (see attached) showing sections, progression (completed topics/lessons are ticked) and direct access to any topic/lesson would also be very useful.

Oh, and did I mention events? I really need events, for my community, as part of courses, or as part of spaces (for a membership) 😍

And maybe there can be events that can be booked via fluentcommunity and fluentcart, means inside community and outside 😊

I am planning to use Courses in my new community since it is fully integrated in FluentCommunity.

What I really want are just some minor updates to make it looks like a finished product, not just a half-baked product.

At least please make the display of Single Course page to make it looks good, it really needs some love on this part.

1. Add featured image support, just like featured image support for space, that will display as space banner at the top.
2. Add support for adding image and video in the Course Details, so it will be a good mini landing page for the current course.
3. Add featured image support for course lesson also, so it will looks nice for Modern style. And these featured image should be displayed also for public, not logged in.
4. Modern style also show course duration. but it just show "-" if we do not specify the duration here, which makes it weird for non-video lesson, maybe can add option for short description or something like that.
5. We need a proper CTA for the single course. Currently the join button is on the top right, always competing with the login button at the top. Check if you are not logged in, you will two primary button login vs join, not really UX-friendly IMHO. Better if we can have another CTA in the course sidebar to join the course. This is also applicable for space if you want.
6. For FluentCart integration, we can also show the paywall CTA in the course sidebar, looks better for non-logged-in user. Some people will join the community by joining the course. So we should make it easier from user to join the course from single course page.
7. This is not for course only but also for space, when using FluentCart integration for paywall, please allow to use Private product. Also, create new paywall product from FluentCommunity should ideally create Private product in the FluentCart. Last time I check, it only support published products. Private product means no single product page needed, so I don't need to check & update that product, so I don't need to worry if user accidentally visit the single product page.

I think that's all I need for minimum updates to make the course feature in FluentCommunity to be sellable.

1. Email notifications regarding comments on lessons should be sent to the course author, not just the individual lesson creator.
2. Add conditional display options for elements/blocks across different devices (show/hide content depending on the device used to view the lesson).
3. Add push notifications.
4. A mobile application or at the very least, a PWA.

Integration with FluentBooking

Ufff...nice to hear this, there are so many things, and already liked the ones of my comrades so I'll try not to repeat:

Improve the issues described in my previous post. Create a better login page that more clearly separates the login option from WordPress, and remove room joining, people keep publicly sharing it here all the time, do something about it.

Feature Request: Unlock Overlay for Paid Content Inside FluentCommunity

I have a feature request that could be a really powerful addition to FluentCommunity Classroom.

Right now, I’m exploring ways to increase engagement and conversions inside the community itself, without always redirecting people to external sales pages. I came across a feature used in Skool (see screenshot attached), where a locked overlay is placed on top of a classroom or content.

The idea is simple but very effective:

You can place an overlay on a classroom (or specific content) that shows a message like “Unlock for $X,” and members can directly purchase access from within the community.

For example, in a course teaching marketing funnels, the student clicks one button, and the exact Fluent Forms layout and FluentCRM Automation Funnel used in that lesson are instantly generated and installed straight into their WordPress backend. Creators can sell these pre-configured templates as high-converting add-ons via FluentCart.

2. In-Course "Book an Audit" Step (FluentBooking High-Ticket Bridge): Don't just treat FluentBooking as a general event scheduler. Allow us to embed a paid FluentBooking appointment block at the end of a critical module. For instance: "You've finished setting up your system. Book a 15-minute Premium Audit session with me for $49 to ensure everything is running flawlessly before launching." This seamlessly filters students from low-ticket content into high-ticket consulting.

This forces students to actively participate, publish their daily progress, and upvote others in the Spaces, making the community completely self-sustaining and hyper-engaged.

Course Notes

What about a built in note taking feature for students that is linked to their profile where they can see what course, lesson notes were taken.

I'm in the process of building FluentCommunity into a co-creation space / expert hub together with other coaches and experts — so I'm coming at this from a slightly different angle than solo course creators.

The one feature I'd love most: multi-instructor support — meaning other experts can host their own courses within my community, with their own access and ideally some form of revenue sharing or separate checkout. That's the piece that's missing and keeping parts of this setup in external tools right now.

Beyond that, certificates would help a lot for positioning expert content as something with real value. And a clean way to restrict course access per membership level or space — so paid members or invited experts get different content than the general community.

But honestly, multi-instructor is the game-changer for anyone building a hub rather than a solo platform. 🙌

• Are you running courses in FluentCommunity today, or elsewhere?

  Yes. I have 3 businesses. One is fully moved over to FluentCommunity, the others not yet (currently LearnDash). My podcast community has one course in use but would use more if the features below were available. Multiple clients using the courses, too.

• What's the one feature you'd want us to add first?

  • A course landing page. One of the things that is great about LearnDash is that there is a course landing page where you can have a welcome video, important links & documents, messages, etc.
  • Having the Course -> Lesson/Module -> Topic structure because having a separate page for the lesson/module is really useful for the same reasons that having a course landing page is useful.
  • Having a dedicated space/discussion page for the course instead of on the individual lessons (if you change up the structure of the course, you loose the conversations). Currently, I need to create a space group and have a space for the course and the course itself. It's confusing to new people. They do get used to it and I do have to create welcome videos explaining how to use the community to keep the questions down.
  • Certificates are important and one of the reasons why I haven't moved one of the LearnDash over yet.
  • The Multi instructor/Skool Communities type features is exactly what the podcast community needs and one of the other businesses needs. I am a co-host, and both of us would like our own branded courses as well as be able to invite others in our industry to have their own courses in our platform.
  • Morgan McArthur mentioned the notes (which I do have on the LearnDash... https://snaporbital.com/learndash-notes/). While not a deal breaker, some people do use it and like it.
  • Dream feature would be the ability to chat with the course using AI.

I want FC to have more immersive UI such as a full screen lesson page and more customizable course side navigation bar. And integration with Gutenberg for better customizable course information

I'm already running courses in FluentCommunity and I love it.

The one feature I'd want first: advanced quizzes.

Right now the quiz module is too basic for educational content. What I really need:

• One question per screen (full-screen layout, not a scrollable list). It prevents learners from scrolling ahead and seeing questions that might give away the answers. It also improves focus, feels much better on mobile, and gives a real sense of progression like a proper quiz app.
• Image support per question (essential for photography courses, I need to show a photo and ask "what settings did I use?" or "What's wrong with this picture?")
• Answer explanations. I want more than just showing the correct answer, I need to explain why. Even a simple explanation field per question would do the job

This would make FluentCommunity a serious LMS contender. Right now I make it work, but the quiz experience feels lightweight compared to what learners expect.

My community is based around live courses and a library of previous courses for new comers to catch up. FC is perfect for me! I would like the sequential lesson unlock to include a delay element. So when they complete one lesson, the have to wait x days for the next lesson. I know this is in the section part, but we unlock sections weekly and would like lessons unlocked after completion one day at a time.

instead of proposing new ideas, what about following the roadmap and release events? i've purchased the LTD for that, seeing that in the roadmap years ago, and nothing happened. a lot of my customer are hyngry, that's not a proper way to fidelize your customers Shahjahan Jewel

A partial lesson preview would also be nice. So they can view a certain amount of a lesson before encountering a paywall on the rest.

Nesting lessons would be very useful. Having some sort of lesson hierarchy to split things up more.

Im currently using Masteriyo LMS after testing all the leading WP LMS plugins to bridge the deficit with Fluent Community for courses. Masteriyo LMS offers all the course features a content creator needs to provide a full learning experience. This would be a great plugin to help examine to enhance the quiz and course experience inside FC to offer a comprehensive experience for users

Need to drip Courses not just Lessons. So for example, in a subscription of one month, there might be four courses. I would like to drip one course per week. Then, within the course I can drip lessons one by one. I have already built this using a complex network of CRM tags and email sequences and uncanny Automator to go with my LearnDash set up. It could also work with your courses but why not set it up anyway? I think it would be so useful. I could never understand why Learndash could not work this way.

Might be a stretch. But shorter Microlearning would be great and would offer a unique take. Learnings specifically made for mobile use, short and sweet. I'm using the courses, changed from LearnDash to the Community and it's awesome.

I would love to be able to duplicate lessons to a different course or duplicate an entire course so I'm able to change a few things for a new cohort. But maybe the cohort idea mentioned above works even better; I'm not familiar with it.

I would also love if there was an Elementor integration so it's easier to change the lay-out of the lessons.

I mostly use Loom te record my video's, if I have them in a course with the reponsive size, it shows a black box above and below my video. Would love it if that can be changed, it looked a lot better in LearnDash.
