When will the PNG > WebP conversion issues be fixed?
Hey community,
Since I started using FluentCommunity, Iโve been encountering upload errors in various parts of the backend when trying to upload PNG files (for example, when setting the Space Banner via the Admin Settings).
If I upload the image directly as a WebP file, the error doesn't occur.
I have already reported this to support, but to date, the bug hasn't been fixed. The strange thing is that the error doesn't happen everywhere. For instance, if I open a Space directly and click "Change Title Image," it works fine. The bug only occurs when doing it through the Admin Settings.
Is anyone else experiencing this? When will this finally be resolved?
Also, the conversion from GIF to WebP makes no sense here, because the resulting WebP is static while the original GIF is animated. Admins should be able to disable this (I'm currently handling this via a custom script).
Hello Marc Meese, we will look into this matter.
Marc Meese, I tried to recreate the issue, but from my end, I faced no issues. Can you share a screen recording? You can create a support ticket with the recording or share the recording link here directly.
Tawsif Ahmed Riyadย I just noticed something while recording with Loom. The error only occurs on the first attempt when uploading png files.
So, when I try to set the group image (PNG) (1st attempt): Error: Host not found (https://awsbucketurl...)
Second attempt (PNG), immediately after the first: Suddenly works, no error. Same bucket, same image, no changes.
I haven't noticed this with WebP so far; the first attempt always works there.
Since I don't see any info in the WordPress logs or the browser console, I can't really add anything else. Even in the Loom video, you only see this error message flash briefly and then disappear immediately.
How can I narrow this down further?
Marc Meese, can you share the recording link?
