What is "Global Post Status"?
Could someone clarify what this setting does? The description is not immediately clear.
When it is disabled, users have to select space when they post from the Feed page. If enabled, users can post without selecting a space.
That's my understanding anyways. I was also confused about this π
@info_1714489559, Thank you. So where does the post go (which space) when Enabled then?
@info_1714489559, Actually, I am not sure that setting affects the "Select Space" function.
I have enabled and disabled the setting and there seems to be no change to the "Select Space" dropdown in the post creation form
Jeremy Launder_1715955576, the post doesn't have to be associated with any space when enabled, hence the name "global post" I guess.
You may have to use a non-admin account to see the difference.
Jeremy Launder_1715955576, the Global Post feature is not linked to the select space dropdown.
This feature only allow all users (not only Admin/elevated user community role) to submit posts directly into the Activity Feed.
If you disable the Global Post Status all regular users won't be able to post directly into the Feed - even the text field won't be visible for them - to see this difference you need to log-in into your Community as a regular user.
Example: you can decide that your regular users are being forced to submit posts only in Spaces bit not in the Feed - in the Feed they can only read messages posted directly by Admin plus messages from Spaces the regular users belong to.
Note: The Actovoty Feed is really useful if you as a user have access to multiple Spaces and instead of going directly into each Space and read updates you just watch the Activity Feed (one place).
Note: when the Global Post Status is enabled regular user will be able to submit posts from the Feed only when select the Space name - so the post must be assign to the Space Name.
Mat ., thank you for the detailed explanation.
I am struggling to understand what you mean by βpost directly into the activity feedβ.
Doesnβt the Activity Feed just consist of recent posts from the various spaces in the community? Or can you post directly to the activity feed (without assigning the post to a particular space)?
You answer seems to indicate that the second option is the case, but this contradicts the fact that you have to select which space to post in when you make a post.
I donβt understand π€£π€―
Jeremy Launder_1715955576, the second option is correct but in the Latest version it was overwritten and you cannot post directly in The Feed and you need to select the Space name so this setting doesnt make sense now and needs to be corrected (for example on the dropdown list there will be item: The Feed etc
Still trying to figure out what this setting is for. Shahjahan Jewel, care to jump in on this one? π
