UX Suggestion for Fluent Community Navigation
Iβd like to propose a cleaner and more intuitive navigation experience for Fluent Community users:
Suggestion:
Unify the feed and menu controls by replacing the left-side hamburger menu with a single interactive element: the feed button (left arrow icon).
Specific Proposed Changes:
- Remove the persistent hamburger menu from the top-left corner.
- Keep only the logo at the top, which should default to linking directly to the General Feeds section.
- Repurpose the Feed button (left arrow icon vs. House Icon) to open and close the side menu, regardless of screen size (mobile, tablet, or desktop).
- This will simplify the UI, reduce visual clutter, and streamline the user flow, even on smaller screens.
Key Benefits:
- A unified toggle experience for both mobile and desktop users with more screen real estate for feed content..
- The logo becomes a clear and expected home base (General Feeds), aligning with common UX patterns.
- Reduces the need for multiple nav interactions while maintaining accessibility.
I believe this small change could go a long way in improving usability across devices and simplifying the overall experience.
I think the ability to customize the Feed text could be useful. I also think we need a dynamic sidebar, so every tab, space, and course has their own real estate for navigation. right now what we have is good for a very small community, not enough if you want to build something large.
