User Registration

I noticed the login to the portal does not offer registration. Will that be included? And will it have the ability to capture data for custom user fields?

Also, how integrated are user profiles going to be with the ability to have tabs for site CPTs a user might author or other information? For example if you allow users to post blogs, can we manage all that on user profiles eventually?
