User Handle

How can a user manually set their handle? I know how an admin can set the user’s @ handle, but can a user do this?

Changing the userName aka @ handle is not possible in Wordpress nativly (without external plugins) since it is a security concern. I believe changing userName should be limited and if implemented on the end-user level then Admin needs access to the changed log (history) - in case it will be needed to prove a case etc.

Mat ., I imagine fluent community could and should have its own usernames that shouldn't be WordPress usernames. That's how I thought it is 🤔

Rosvaldas Nudas, BrandName/NickName/AliasName could have some benefits but it is not just additional field to implement so I can imagine that the fTeam will come up with something sooner or later. But first lets have the Public Release and wait for more feedback. Still there are some things to fix and the list is long haha

I think the issue that I am seeing with this is that as an admin, in the community, I can modify the "username within community" but my users themselves cannot do this. I personally would like my users to be able to modify the username. If it is truly something I don't want them to have, I'll take action. This username does not have to be the same username that Wordpress uses, though it would be easier. I typically tell my users to login with their email address anyway. I just hate having their handles in the community be something like "@Daniel293871293799" like mine currently is in this community, yet other users have really pretty usernames like how Mat has "Mat " as his username. Or how Shahjahan has Shahjahan Jewel

I saw in a different post this was enabled here, but I don’t seem to have the ability to change my username. Is there something I’m missing?
