Syncing Community and WordPress Usernames

I have my own registration form for the community. When registering, the member chooses a username, which automatically becomes their username on WordPress as well. However, when we allow a community member to change their username in the community, this change does not reflect in the WordPress username, causing an internal control issue. Can this be fixed?
