Stay in topic when using back button/swipe on lightbox image

There is one thing that bugs me. When I open a image on mobile, I'm used to I can use the back button / swipe to close the lightbox and stay in the topic. But currently it kicks you back to the overview page...

I know there is a close X as well, but it just not in my system to push that. When I also can swipe back or use the back button on my device.
