Should FC be more like reddit?
We all know reddit has become very successful, even though, it took reddit about 10 years to become main stream.
Maybe some of reddit characteristics could be implemented into fluentCommunity? Maybe someone would be interested in designing a similar reddit theme?
I have always heard that if you run across a successful business model then you should learn from their success. β οΈ
Why or why not?
It would be interesting; perhaps we should consider developing FC-compatible themes with different themes inspired by other portals or communities.π
JosΓ© Carlos EstiradoΒ if you know of any theme developer's then feel free to mention or tag them. I do not know of any myself or this could be a custom theme and I am not sure how much that would cost...
David ScurlockΒ I'm working on that. Visual style is easy enough. Actually adapting the functionality to be more like other networks, not so much.
Ross FCAΒ I can image mega sites such as this do not run on WordPress. After all, who would setup a business using WordPress π€£ me...
Well, we shouldn't doubt the possibilities of WordPress. I think something decent could be done; in fact, we have an example with FC and what can be done. I'm not a programmer, but I'll talk to some contacts to see what they think and if they might be interested.
JosΓ© Carlos EstiradoΒ i was kidding about WP which is very popular around the business community and powers more than 40% of websites, so wp has done something right β οΈ
David ScurlockΒ I know, my English accent doesn't sound like when I speak Spanish, sorry, π π
Yeah! Reddit is amazing! Also, Reddit gets a lot of mentions in Google and AI search responses.
The GSΒ I cant figure out why they ever got off the ground compared to other forums with random categories and topics.
That would be great, but the link structure is not similar to Reddit. Here is an example:
https://www.reddit.com/r/jobs/
https://community.wpmanageninja.com/portal/space/community-meta/home
You can see /portal, but removing /space / home is already problematic.
This seems to be an important feature of Reddit.
Artur AbakarovΒ this is something that FC should improve on. Most forum platforms have an appropriate url format such as mydomain.com/community/business/ or something similar π
David ScurlockΒ The developers have already told me that they will not change the structure, as it is the basis of Fcom. Still, I believe that Reddit and other leaders cannot be achieved through WP + any plugin. After all, such projects are not "amateur" but infrastructural. I mean that while WP Ninja can compensate for the work of 100+ IT specialists, the server part, its scaling, administration, promotion, and business planning remain our responsibility.
Artur AbakarovΒ it was just a thought, no worries.
Artur AbakarovΒ You're correct. URL structure is key for SEO. I would love for FC to have a forum section in addition to "spaces" but that's like asking Reddit and Facebook to have a baby.
