Question - PaidMembership Pro/Woo Subscriptions + Fluent Community

I just bought my license and am excited to start testing. Previously, I've built my memberships on BuddyBoss/ PaidMembership Pro/ Woo Subscriptions - if I'm charging for memberships and needing to control membership access inside the site - will I still need PMPro and Woo Subscriptions (for monthly recurring payments)

Yes you still need to integrate with other plugins for taking payment and managing membership subscriptions

Got it - thank you!

But not sure you need the membership piece (you can get by most likely with just the subscriptions). I found that the membership part wasn’t necessary and often added more complexity than needed. You can control access restrictions in simpler ways. I’m not sure of your exact setup, but I suspect you’ll be able to manage this yourself with basic user roles and some show/hide settings, rather than relying heavily on plugins like Membership, which can get quite convoluted.

noted - thank you for that advice, Shanna - I am trying to find the best way I can work on subscription-based sites for clients. I'll do some research on user role plugins that might be able to replace the membership piece.

Emily Sprinkle, I wish FluentCommunity had all of these built in. It would be a huge time saver for all of us.

I'm setting this up now, and I think the philosophy behind this platform is to keep things simple and flexible. The key here will be creating clear content for setups like this, and I’ll work on putting together some resources as I go.

Currently, I’m testing out two solutions: the free version of Members by MemberPress and Restrict Content Pro. The first community I’m working on doesn’t require a paid membership component, so I’m aiming to keep things straightforward. I love the Members plugin because it adds a widget on each page, letting you set visibility based on user roles. When combined with CRM automation workflows (see the Community docs for more on this), I think it’s a solid approach.

Both plugins also offer payment gateway options, which might be simpler than using WooCommerceβ€”especially if you’re not selling other products. Personally, I find Woo Subscriptions with Memberships a bit too complex for users, as it combines membership and subscription details in the billing section, which can be confusing. But at the end of the day, I will probably use Woo Subscriptions for my paid users. But we will see!

I’ll follow up with more details after I experiment a bit more. :) Shahjahan Jewel Linda Rando Bruce Hafner

I do believe and hope that the approach for this project is to remain as un opinionated as possible which affords us much more flexibility than something like Buddy Boss. Shahjahan Jewel Linda Rando Bruce Hafner

Any update on implementing Paid Membership Pro (PMP) for controlling, guarding, managing and monetizing community members and levels?

Anyone have use case, experience so far..?

I know PMP has an integration addon with BuddyBoss, BuddyPress.. not sure if they are updating it to function with FluentCommunity? https://www.paidmembershipspro.com/add-ons/buddypress-integration/

We have been asking and waiting for full integration for FluentCart + FluentCommunity.. but seems as FluentCart focusing on monetizing access to Spaces and Courses..

I recently tried testing the new FluentCart to sell community site access as a digital membership but not as clean or practical as PMP membership management (IMO)..

Kinda disappointed with the lack of ease to sell Fluentcommunity membership access and monetize our community. This should be baked in to their flagship product. Not sure why they delaying FluentCart integration and tutorial.. even BuddyBoss offered more: "BuddyBoss supports most of the add-ons (built-in integrations, add-on integrations, and third-party integrations) for Paid Memberships Pro." https://www.buddyboss.com/integrations/paid-memberships-pro/

I will also contact PMP to ask if they plan to have better integration for Fluentcommunity.

This FluentCommunity topic is getting old.. over a year πŸ™„
