Post Poll Cannot Be edited
When I create a poll, and post. If I try to go back and change the poll to ‘enable multiple choices’, it does not ‘stick’. It is set at one choice only and I have to delete the post and start again. Anyone else get this?
The inability to modify the content of an active poll is generally enforced to prevent result manipulation by changing elements after the poll has already started.
D@vid that’s not really what I’m asking. Let me clarify. I write a post and say pick as many options as you like. Someone comments and says I can only pick one. I realise I didn’t tick the multiple choices box, so I go back. The post allows me to edit it. I can tick the box, but it does not take effect. There is no warning saying this is meant to be this way… you cannot change the poll as it has already been published, it just will not stick.
Paul Hopkins You wrote that the survey has been published. Normally, from that moment on, it should no longer be possible to modify it, as one or more people may already be in the process of submitting their responses.
That’s generally how surveys are expected to work.
D@vid thanks for your thoughts :-)
Paul Hopkins Amen ! :-)
If anyone is interested, I found a way to do it. Not too difficult, so probably just my lack of trying!
Paul Hopkins How? 😅😊
Kelly Begin you have to edit the post, delete the poll, and then save/update. If you don’t do this, the original poll ‘persists’. Now edit again and redo the poll. So now your post is intact (and any email notifications that went out about the post will still link correctly to this post). Anyone who hasn’t voted will be non the wiser. Ask those who previously voted to vote again. So, in my use case, I discovered it early and so only had one person to ask to redo. It really helped me when I had forgotten to give the option of voting for several not just one. Hope that helps!
Paul Hopkins Oh okay ✅, You the best 🔥
